I'm not sure if we've had this before, I vaguely remember it from somewhere. Anyway, it's an E36 at a decent haggle above thread max.

Think it's been posted before. Looks alright, but rare though it may be, I'd want mine with a V8 under the bonnet.https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1232755

Admittedly, peasant gears. However, in this circumstance, I'd prefer that.
PS - slight thread budget creep.

Oh just duck off with that made up ste.

Save having a V8, I didn't think there was any point at all in a 4.2 Touareg until I saw this Interior. You won't buy it. Why would you?

Has anyone used an iCarsoft Mercedes V2.0 edition?
I'm thinking of getting one to go over and view the E350 at the end of the week.
The CR Pro would be nice, however it's an extra £100, few months late for the MBclub group buy.
Any experience anyone?
I used mine to diagnose issues with the airmatic on my CLS. It claimed it was a sensor problem which I then cleaned and reset. The airmatic worked fine for the next 10 months or so till I sold it. The next owner ended up replacing a airmatic strut a while later so not sure how accurate it was. Mines now sat doing nothing in the shed so I'd sell it cheap to someone on here if it's of any use. Postage from Europe though so that might add a few quid.I'm thinking of getting one to go over and view the E350 at the end of the week.

Unicorn is probably a little strong but I think any car that sells in a few dozen in the UK at least qualifies as rare and he is right about the 60-odd made for the UK, and being a complete geek and serial E34 enthusiast who has previously owned an E34 540iT/6 that was written off, I know there is well less than half left.
The E34 540's M60B40 engine that has now survived the high sulpher problems that affected nikasil linings is arguably stronger than the M62B44 that replaced it due to a double row timing chain and metal chain guides that don't embrittle like the later engines do, and whilst the E39 was, and still is, an extremely competent and cultured car that still feels like a new-ish car to drive, the E34 is a far more communicative and better drivers car without the complexity and component quality cuts that can make the parts and electronics of an E39 a little more than temperamental after all this time.
Finding any E34 540i in half decent condition is hard enough, a manual saloon more so, and a manual Touring, well, whilst not a Unicorn but I will bet an online pint that it will be years before another surfaces as it has been a few years since the last nice one.
Given that E34 M5 Tourings are now at least £40k plus, I would suggest anyone who likes the E34 Touring in manual gearbox form and wants V8 grunt instead of S38 neck-wringing should go and see this fairly sharp-ish.
All imho and I have form for too much E34 appreciation...

I'm sorry for dropping this in at over double max, but this looks lovely. Look at those seats!

If it weren't for that small rear spoiler that would be absolutely perfect. What a thing!https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-Mercedes-Benz-560-...
That is lovely, I'm not even that upset by the "spoiler" spoiling it... I suppose I'd have to get rid like a good threadist of course.
Velour on a 560SEC must be pretty rare.
The ad is also annoyingly light on detail, with a big paragraph pasted in about the 560SEC, which is a waste of time as who looks at those ads without knowing what it is?
I know that's a market of maybe half a dozen people in the UK, but that doesn't make it any less interesting and worthwhile.

I whole-heartedly agree with the level of wordy bks in the advert but I do happen to think it's probably spot on the money if it still presents mostly as it looks in the photographs from when it was last on the road.

I agree with you 100% - unless it's an absolute shed then for the right buyer that's about as good as you'll get under an M5T in E34 form.Unicorn is probably a little strong but I think any car that sells in a few dozen in the UK at least qualifies as rare and he is right about the 60-odd made for the UK, and being a complete geek and serial E34 enthusiast who has previously owned an E34 540iT/6 that was written off, I know there is well less than half left.

Identified all the faults on my wifes CLK, used it on my brother-in-laws LS430 and Discovery3.
Handy tool to have.
Cheers.

Just got a message that someone is viewing the car at lunchtime. So either it's sold or someone felt it wasn't good enough to buy, so what was wrong with it?
Not great either way.

Agree re the 540T - if I had not already paid up for the 525i I would be enquiring - e34 and Oxford Green
Yes seems a fair price to me considering the rarity of the model generally, and that variant specifically. I wouldn't be surprised to see in on 4 star classics or similar with a 2 or 3 in front of the current price.stickleback123 said:

A case of ‘find another’ I guess. Looks like the headlining is coming away at the windscreen - may be an easy fix or may require a new headliner. Having replaced mine on an E34 saloon I’d think twice before tackling the job on a touring with the moonroof!
The peeling roof rails let it down too but another easy cosmetic fix I’m sure.
Definitely one for fettling as part of a collection rather than a daily driver I’d say.
You guys are mad. It's definitely a bit of a shed being sold as some well loved example of a modern classic. It's done plenty of miles (not mentioned in the ad, must have slipped his mind) with a fairly unloved feeling MOT history and has likely been abused (previous big-bore exhaust somewhat offsets the Chelsea billionaire who only used to it to go to his yacht in Monaco)."Top quality" tyres means not a brand worth naming. The paint is clearly bad in several areas even from the fairly small photos and calling it a 10-footer with the way he describes everything means it'll want a lot of work to look as good as I'd want a £7.5k modern classic to look.
I like it and it is rare and desirable, but it's not £7.5k. Even with those super desirable manual seats turning it from a bit of a bus into a practical Caterham.

Peeling roofrails is a constant failure point for E34 Tourings with multiple solutions suggested online; the headlining at the front should be a relatively easy fix but oddly the Touring headliner for the sunroof model is perhaps the easiest to remove and fix as it is made in two parts, front and rear, instead of one large piece like the saloons and non-sunroof Touring.Looks like the headlining is coming away at the windscreen - may be an easy fix or may require a new headliner. With so few 6 speed Tourings made (only 540i's and late M5's had six speed manual boxes), so few left, and so many of the remaining few left in good condition, it is very much a case of find another...
Another vote for the icarsoft v2 - deals with noughties and later MBs quite well - reading codes, reset service messages etc.. Will certainly be suitable for checking out the 211.
The SEC above looks great, but judging by the visible rust on the front edge of the boot opening and the misty rear screen, it’s going to need the usual major surgery in that area before long. Regardless, a nice car, although I am biased towards them!
