RE: 70 years of SEAT told in 7 cars
Discussion
Never owned a Seat but really like them - think it's all the miles I've done in Ibiza hire cars over the years.
Interesting fact - those Toledo had de-locked Corrado door handles on the rear - perfect for preventing the screwdriver-through-the-door-skin thefts on VAG cars about 20 years ago

If the stories are to be believed, Porsche themselves weren’t too impressed with either the cam cover or the associated marketing campaign

I recall that too. Presumably the limits of product association hadn’t been nailed down sufficiently in the T&Cs - or they had and SEAT just flouted them.
I do like SEAT, but there isn't much history between being rebadged FIATs or VW platform cars. That makes the Ibiza probably their greatest success. I do like the Cupra models though - the Leon 225 R still looks great and should be a future classic!
The mk1 Toledo can still be seen in various places around the world, particularly China as it was sold for years until recently (under the Chinese Chery badge).

Unfortunately, I think SEAT is becoming a bit dull. The original Leon (and the second one) were quite interesting cars, offering a bit more design flair than their VW counterparts. Sadly, while the third gen car was very competent, it just looked a bit dull and anonymous. That limited run Cupra R they did had some styling features that should have been standard on the Cupra.

A few of years after passing my test I was fortunate enough to own one of these. As a 20 year old I thought I was the dog's bks and only sold it to get a VX220.
Fantastic looking thing
Always quite liked those. Did go and look at one of the lairy green ones some years ago, but it was a bit rusty.Fantastic looking thing

I've had a boggo facelift 6J 1.4 Ibiza for the past five years whilst sorting my life out in order to get something a bit sportier.
For a Polo in drag that isn't the last word in sporty handling I've flung it round the EVO triangle and various country roads throughout the land and it's always done well.
I do like me a Seat, wouldn't mind a Leon Cupra when I'm in the position to change unless they bring out a new Ibiza Cupra that's actually decent. The last one wasn't allegedly.
Always was a massive fan of the Cordoba WRC. The Ibiza F2 set the tone for looking great on the stages but the Cordoba, especially in facelifted form was a great looking thing. Shame it was st, although that make it even more endearing.
When I saw the opening image, I got excited and thought there might actually be a bit of talk about the Ibiza F2 and the Cordoba, but nothing. They brought a fair bit of fun and excitement to rallying with loads of Cupra Sport merchandise and the like. A shame not to mention any of that, given that they were quite successful with the Ibiza. For a Polo in drag that isn't the last word in sporty handling I've flung it round the EVO triangle and various country roads throughout the land and it's always done well.

Also worth mentioning is the UK-based SEAT owner forum, SeatCupra.net, which is one of the best car owner forums period – great UI, lots of helpful advice and knowledge.
Only downside is the zeal for modifying, remaps, etc, sometimes overwhelms.
And when you ‘move on’ and join another marque’s community, you realise how great SCN is and how crap others are in comparison: https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php

Always was a fan of the MK1 Leon and loved the Exeo, especially the estate
Never thought I'd have bought one until I was looking at getting a hot hatch and ended up with the Leon Cupra
Others on my list was Golf R but for less money I got a newer car, with more kit and way less miles (much like others have found)
