Worst Car Interior Ever?
Discussion
Lagonda for me by a long, long way. And everything else on it too.
I watched the Doug Demuro review of it and every single aspect of the ergonomics are absolutely excruciating. It's the type of arrangement you would've expected from a bunch of kids left with some parts to assemble. And they would've earned themselves a clip round the ear when the adults returned.

Tesla 3 Interior. 4 basic seats a Tablet and some cheap plastic.
OK. Now I feel weird... That is the 3rd Interior that has been proposed here I really like
The Lexus in the op is absolutely gopping, but the Tesla 3 is just very elegant and minimalistic. Lots of clever design elements, like the air vent., etc...

I knew it wouldn't take long before someone used that word to describe it, Minimalist is not the same thing as underdesigned with little actual thought put in. The screen looks exactly like it was attached as an afterthought using a generic bracket from Halfords, and the plastics have a finish in them that shouts 'recycled household waste'.Honest minimalism is Dacia.

What is the point on modern cars of having that little bar on the passenger side of the console towards the stereo? It doesn't seem to provide any function whether style or otherwise
Are you meaning on the E90? If so it's a pop out cupholder. Apologies if it's not what you were reffering to. I'm biased but I love the interior in my E92! It's got the nav but It's fairly timeless (aside from the orange mood lighting/dials!) compared to the newer ones.
Mine's half grey, underside of the dash, plastics, seats and carpets. I'm currently on the look out for black plastics & red leather The grey is pretty grim.
I think the Lexus is a great interior in a terrible colour combination..
We had a look at one in a showroom not longer after they'd released, sat in the black / dark red interior and it's a really lovely place - doesn't feel too blingy, fit and finish is superb..
Some of the 90's grey and beige interiors look truly dreay now, but on the flip side I'm glad there's grey options in some new cars and I'd probably opt for that given the choice, for example the current 911 comes in Slate Grey, which IMO is a nice lighter alternative to the usual black..

The Lagonda and the Tesla 3 go into the same class, imho.I watched the Doug Demuro review of it and every single aspect of the ergonomics are absolutely excruciating. They both put minimalistic styling above ergonomics. Both great looking, imho.
Do note that Doug had a different generation of Lagonda with a different interior to the one posted earlier.
Also while I enjoy watching Doug, he certainly isn't the brightest spark and also he is very American with not a great knowledge of Europe in general or car designs decisions.
He knows a lot, but oddly he isn't very well read in certain aspect. He often didn't know something I would have considered to be "general car enthusiasts" knowledge.
Oh, and not everybody needs two big cup holders per person!

Hmm. Is that not just a mass of contradictions? Mine's half grey, underside of the dash, plastics, seats and carpets. I'm currently on the look out for black plastics & red leather The grey is pretty grim.
As I said though I respected my E90 but I could never have 'loved' the interior, plus I felt it was a bit of a fraud - supposed to look like it was made from premium materials but was actually disguised crap.

I'm not big on grey interiors but that looks good. The only issue I'd have is the steering wheel looks a bit too grey. I'd say a black wheel but think that may clash a bit. Agreed about the quality of bits, though. The door grabs and the plastics on the wheel are a weird rubber coating that just doesn't last.
I don't know if it'd fall under the worst interior ever but I've always been disappointed in the interior of the MK1 Focus RS. The normal focus interior was great for the time, yet simply adding some blue bits it made it look completely daft:

Mind is blown by this, looks quite refined on outside.... can anybody do better?

I actually think that interior suits the car. It reminds me of a speed boat.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...
And it suits the colour of the car, but of course personal taste and all that.
The worst interiors are without a doubt Mitsubushi Evo's. I have worked on a few over the years and they are horrible plasticy things, I suspect a late 90's american sedan interior would be a better quality.
Horrible plastics everywhere, it is one of those cars where £29,995 of the price has gone on the suspension, engine, transmission and such, and then £5 has gone on the interior. Vile.

I'll take a different angle to the "one off" worst interior trims.
I think one of the worst for a mainstream car (with the potential to do better) would be the E90 3 series. For a car that has aged well in terms of exterior looks, and was quite "different" looking when it was released back in 2006, the interior somewhat lets it down. Saving grace would be for cars specced with the nav which brings things up a bit.
People may disagree with this, but as I said coming from the angle of a mainstream car that really could have done better.
Funnily enough when I saw the thread title I immediately thought of the E9x's I've had. The interior takes bland to the next level for me. I think that's typical of many Japanese interiors..[/thumb]

But what I found, at least from 90's Toyotas (imports), is that although it felt very basic and plastic, everything worked - every switch, lever, button etc all worked, despite feeling flimsy.
I've had German cars of the same era (although not technically German-built) and despite the slightly better plastic material, a lot more broke or stopped working in a shorter space of time..
