Maybe it's just me, yes, they're cool short plates, but none of them really have any significance to the average person in terms of spelling anything out, so they wouldn't be in Real Good tier for me personally. I prefer ones which actually have a link to the vehicle or spell out something but seems that a lot of people make note of these kind of plates, and I'm new to actually posting here. The C124PPY plates thread has been a lot of fun to lurk around for a while biggrin

This x1000

Short plates with zero significance or meaning are really boring yet litter this thread. Only appealing from what I can see because "it's worth a lot".

Hi there. I'm the OP of this thread, originally started over 17 years ago!

The thread was designed to highlight whimsical plates & those that spelled out something (irrespective of spacing!). Over the years it has drifted into plates that fall out of the ordinary.

I'm happy to see both really, but as you say the stars of the show are those that spell out something.

Even on this car, I bet that's worth more than the car.

Passed a Mini at 3.50pm on Friday that had the plate…..

LOGIN OF

Spelt out somehow. I assume it was a doctored 6 but when it flashed past it did read like that.

Alright there’s a missing F but I thought yep that’s exactly right for a Friday afternoon….

Personally I find the geek/history aspect re: original issue plates having survived being the more interesting aspect.

Big numbers prices are an amusing/surprising side aspect.

And on that note, a couple I spotted recently:

D 73 on a newer Range Rover - was a short distance behind what appeared to be two police outriders further ahead in traffic and there were a lot of other grey/black expensive 4x4 things around at the same time, so I wondered if they were someone VIP.

7272 ME on a Cayman IIRC

Hello Mr Spleen.

I am Mr Nally, is why i wanted and managed to get the plate.
When i first ask the DVLA for it when the "N" reg's were released they wanted £ 3000.-- and declined.
Called them at the end of the "N" year and they still had it and let me have for £250.--

If you don’t mind me asking if that number plate meant so much to you why did you gamble on someone else acquiring it ?

Wish i had asked for N44LLY at the same time :0(

I found it a few years ago and made an offer of £1000 to go on a 2nd car.
They declined and said it's £7000. eekeek

Nice. I've been after this one for a while. Well done, it's spot 352.

I spotted a picture of it in the summer (as you can see from the MOT history, it doesn't get out often) but as I was on holiday myself I simply forgot to take a copy of it.

The same car is already on the SS website but wearing a different 1x1..... more info' when the site gets updated

It certainly seems a bargain now and a good investment if it's still owned by the same person that originally purchased it.

I wonder how many times it's been sold on in the last 29 years!

I can't recall seeing it advertised any where....? I find a lot of numbers do stay in the same ownership/families for many years... I've had mine coming up 33 years....yikes
