That is awesome. And not on a GR Yaris or something special, just on someone's runabout.

I love.

When people purchase a 2 letter plate it's generally their initials, but on a 1 letter plate generally what is the reference of the letter, their first name, surname, or something else?

Eventually found that picture - knew I had it somewhere:.

With a plate like that I am surprised I couldn’t find it, would have thought that would still be in use. I tried LAM 130, and LAM13O but neither came up, any ideas?

Think it's been mentioned before, but on an old episode of Wheeler Dealers, 28 P is on the Sprinter van and trailer of their assistant mechanic Paul.

Just did a quick check and surprisingly it's still on the same vehicle - yellow Sprinter with nearly 170k miles and a clean MOT history laugh

Followed K1, on a hideous green Urus, over Tower Bridge this evening.

An impressive plate.

For the number plate aficionados among us, what happens to the number plates of scrapped cars? I'm after one, which was an original issue, but the car was scrapped a long time ago. Does it just remain dead, along with the car it was assigned to?

Yes they are not reassigned after scrapping .
It could be a source of revenue if they decided to sell them instead . idea

I understand that you can only transfer a number off a car if it has a valid MOT.

I meant the DVLA could sell old scrapped plates to the public for £££ to aid the UK troubled finances .

Could be any of those mentioned or could just be random or it could be an original issue handed down through the family - any number of possible reasons really.

I'd like a one letter plate myself if I ever have any spare cash! but I am not particularly bothered by the letter as long as the plate as a whole looks 'good' to my eyes.

Does that rule still remain in place? I’m sure I read somewhere it had been changed.
