Does that rule still remain in place? I’m sure I read somewhere it had been changed.
It has been changed. No mention of needing a current MOT.I presume that includes vehicles that are MOT exempt due to the 40 year rule? Because they 'need' an MOT but are granted an exemption through the regulations??
The 5-year thing presumably is to stop people transferring good numbers straight off 'barn finds' that are too far gone to fix (so one would just have to SORN it for 5 years then transfer it off)?

I presumed that as well. I'm not sure, though. I think you're right about the 5 years thing, and of course for vehicles too far gone to fix, there's always the chance they'll want to see it moving under it's own power before they'll let the registration be transferred.I presume that includes vehicles that are MOT exempt due to the 40 year rule? Ill at the moment which is clearly affecting my comprehension I assume "have been taxed or had a SORN in place continuously for the past 5 years" means one or the other or both as long as the combination is continuous?
That's how I read it. I've taken it to mean that it has to have been in the same ownership, because changing keeper kills off the tax or SORN status. I may be wrong on that bit, though.oxford drinker said:

I quite like seeing those as they've got some great plates. I saw IC 1 a couple if weeks ago.
IND 1 was in a car park in Oxford last week. And LIT 1 (presumably Lithuania) was here the week before. College lunches are clearly worth travelling for.CRA1G said:
