‘I’m a idiot’. What ever happened to the word an? It seems to be dying out.

I think they’re a naff tuning fad that people will cringe at in a few years - even more so than they do now.

It was originally ""I'm a tosser" engine maps - damage?" but I guess someone got offended...

My Astra VXR had a ‘pop and bang’ remap (by the previous owner) on the sport button.

I used the car for about 40k miles (ish) and other than blowing a couple of the welds on the factory exhaust it didn’t seem to cause any other damage.

"I'm a idiot" works just as well.

Unburnt fuel may not be good for the cat but it could be a while before it's damaged?
Youre right, it's not good for the cat and neither exhaust silencers which in some cases can literally blow them apart.
This is how I know.... tuned (yes tuned) Fiat 126, ported and skimmed head, big Inlet manifold 28/36 twin choke weber and modified exhaust box (now need another one)
Take it to around 40mph turn off the ignition, pull on the choke lever and pump the throttle, switch ignition back on and usually its just a big bang. More rigouous pumping of throttle last time resulted in a small explosion leaving the debris from the exhaust box on the road behind me.. biggrin
This did make me laugh, if only they all ended up like this.

I had my Mini gp2 mapped and if I press sport button it does it , performance Is the same with sport mode off ,needless to say its not used , find it a bit ott , maybe ok on trackdays .I didn't request it, I hasten to add .
My F56 ditto and ditto. I’m wondering if I can get it remapped to remove the pops in Sports mode.
And get rid of the poxy rev hang in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

We have a 100 bhp Fiesta mapped to 140 (alledgedly) bhp via a Bluefin, no pops or bangs, just goes a bit, quite a bit faster.

Saw an Audi S3 locally doing the full Clown car impression, utterly ridiculous, was on my bike and was dying for it to stop so I could ask the driver what was up with his car making that noise ?

Some of them are done by chucking in some fuel, others by messing with the engine timing.

Then there is the key bangers....
