Does anyone have an A Lange & Sohne?

I'm in the process of justifying one, and have been for at least 2 years, but I'm almost there! I was considering an 1815 up/down in rose gold, but I know that what I really want is the flyback chronograph, so I'm attempting to justify the step up. Not interested in residuals.

I don’t own one so can’t help you but absolutely love their work - I would prefer one over the equivalent Patek or even Journe any day of the week. I’ve posted a pic of my grail watch - utterly pointless as I’ll never, ever be able to afford one but the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon is a stunner.
If you can afford it, do it!

Is it too rude to ask how much?
Dunno if you’re asking me or the OP so will answer for both. The 1815 Flyback Chrono he’s trying to convince himself to buy is £48k.
The watch I posted a pic of is €285k.
Edit to add OP I didn’t read your post properly first time around. I think that frankly unless you are Premier League footballer level minted, you should either go for the Flyback or not get either. In your position if I bought the Up/Down I would fear the possibility that every time I looked at my wrist I’d feel a pang of regret at not buying the watch I really wanted.

Personally, I don't like spending money unless it's on the thing that I want. If that means I have to go without for longer, then I am fine with that.I'm in the process of justifying one, and have been for at least 2 years, but I'm almost there! If what I really wanted was the flyback, then buying an up/down would seem like a waste of money to me, and ultimately just put the thing I wanted out of reach for longer.
That's just me though, maybe you'd get the up/down and like it enough that you no longer wanted the flyback, and worst case you can still sell it on again and get back in pursuit of the flyback...
The (enviable) decision.... is yours
But crucially, post pictures of the outcome please
Thanks everyone! Dewar and SturdyHSV, yes I think that you're right regarding deliberations on a flyback, it is what I want and possibly why it's taken me so long considering it. I've physically seen both, and it certainly is the contrast between the classic relatively timeless simplicity of the dial and the captivating complexity of the movement that make the flyback just such a beautiful watch for me. I think that you've helped push me towards making a decision...

Emonda03, wow! Thank you for posting those photos! What a stunning couple of watches! And, notably for me, they include a flyback in rose gold. If Dewar and SturdyHSV were gently nudging me towards a decision then I think that your input has rather pushed me towards the correct conclusion! Does the dataograph wear substantially larger than the 1815? They really do look fantasticFlying machine said:

What else is a watch (sub) forum for if not for a bit of gentle enabling? Definitely post some pics as and when you pull the trigger. Emonda03 said:
I got a couple..lovely movements....
Gorgeous watches, especially that Datograph. If ever I was tempted to liquidate my collection into one watch, that’d be one of the pieces that might tempt me. I’m curious - could they hold up as a daily? Do they get much attention from people or fly under the radar? Also, do you know if there’s any movement on price from an AD?they fly under the radar..but then most watches do...even the Richard Milles I wear ...very very seldom does anyone ever notice. I think 99.9% of the population are not interested, which is fine as watches is my thing, and not bothered about the 'flash' element. If you want that wear a rolex as that is by far the most 'doing well he must be rich' watch noticed by people.
As such therefore never feel a security risk by wearing whatever watch I pick.Live pretty rural , so yes I would be a bit more nervous in london etc but other than that no issues
The gold watch has a lovely dial, perfect symetry to me , but then there is the lovely perpetual calendar which is just such a lovely thing to have watching, the pinnicle to me of a watch's purpose....
Best of luck , great watches never had issues with either, time keeping spot on...yes either I would wear as a daily....

Any chance we can take a looky at your watch collection Emonda? I'd love to see what else is in the collection if you wouldn't mind sharing...
