Not for me but the wife loves her Tiguan and just wishes for a bit more power.

VAG must have an internal staff incentive for putting the EA888 in as many models as possible.

They surely can’t be that big?
VAG seem to no longer quote brake size by disc diameter in mm, but by minimum wheel size, in inches, that will fit over the caliper? Doesn't that vary with wheel spoke profile?

The Tiguan, IMO is one of the nicest designs of any vehicle currently on the road. Lots of R-line diesels about and always think they look great.

I quite like the small fast crossover niche. This one looks pretty good to me and with that engine its very easy to get more power.

I've had two Tiguans (company cars) and I have to say, it is in many ways the perfect single car - very hard to find fault with it. In R-Line spec it looks pretty good, it's comfortable, easy to drive/park, practical enough, infotainment and tech is very usable, everything just works really well, on winters it went everywhere in the Alps without any drama and still effortless on the autobahn for the return journey.

I don't think I'd buy an R personally as I've had a 240BiTDi one previously and it was quite rapid, while still being relatively economical, and comfortable. I don't think I'd want to compromise on those last qualities for the sake of a bit more poke and noise.

If I could have a current Tiguan as a BEV right now, I think that would easily do us as a family car for the next 10 years.

I’ll take a nice used Golf R estate, please.
So much more class. And sense.

There, said it.
So predictable, did you cut and paste from the thousands of other SUV articles

It looks nice and I love that colour.

The problem I had with the Tiguan was the lack of interior space to the point you may as well have a saloon/estate.
True....but it is effectively Golf size but has 520/1655 litres compared to 380/1270 litres.

Love the Tiguan. We have a 2009 140 TDI (my wifes car) It pulls like a train and still looks as good as new. I have a 2007 Golf Edition 30. When we got the Tiguan I said to Angie "this is YOUR car -only YOU will ever drive it".Exaggeration of course . That's why the mileage on the Golf Edition 30 is still only 15,000 - I LOVE driving the Tiguan.

Of course it's horses for courses - I realise it's not everyones cup of tea. But just because it's not up your street doesn't mean it deserves to be slagged off. This new one looks great...I'll have one thank you very much. The one thing I do agree with some of the critics on this site is that it will probably be extremely expensive.

Sorry......grumble over.

I to was thinking "Run VT!"

I'll get me coat..

It looks alright but the most important thing about it is the "biggest seller full stop for VAG" That's a lot of volume sales that some niche makers currently looking at external investment or government help would give their right arm for.

Car manufacture, Volume matters.

A bizarre way of measuring brakes. I too agree they're not 18in brakes (450mm give or take). The biggest brake disc size on the current Tiguan was 340mm, which is what I reckon these are. 13.3 inches, not that anyone measures brake discs in inches (take note VW).
I've seen that 20 inch wheels are standard, 21's are optional.

I didn't know that, VW's have never really interested in me. Just thought it looks totally bizarre. Even on a V8 engine cars it usually looks a bit of over the top.

It looks great.

Has anyone mentioned that it'll get stolen off your driveway by thugs with knives yet?

I think we've had the usual finance objections / bitterness.

4 exhaust consternation - yes.

EA888 usage observation / moan - yes.

Agreed. I've rented a few of the standard Tiguans and enjoyed them. Look great, easy to load and unload bags and cases, nice driving position. The regular car went ok but I bet this will be a hoot. May even consider one if it comes to Canada.
