Right chaps,

Family holiday now on the horizon. Other family will be nearby. A motley selection of children and a grandfather who fancies himself as a bit handy. So, the question of the day: recommend me your tools for the pool. What do I need dominate the shallow end?

I'd be tempted to set up position with a good advantage and commence a long range aerial bombardment.

We had a massive street water fight about a month ago, on a beautiful hot Saturday afternoon.

There was quite a lot of chatter on the street WhatsApp about new weaponry being purchased :-) I ventured into Home Bargains of all places and bought x4 foam water lances for £2 each.

They were large enough to hold enough water to properly soak someone in one hit and the water came out as quickly as you could force it, which in my case was enough to cross the street with ease.

In reality though my weapon of choice ended up being half full buckets of water hurled at each other :-) my children and wife used the lances though and they were very effective.

the line 'they don't build them like they used to' applies here. If you want powerful super soakers you need to buy the ones made in the 90s and early 00s. after a while they had to weaken the pressure to stop kids getting injured. they also added lots of gimmicks to the soakers to make it less about shooting water fast/far/for a long time.

one popular mod on older supersoakers that have the pumping vessell is to put (empty) balloons in. more you can add the greater the pressure,, however you;d then have to reinforce the internals.

yes.. there is a super soaker forum out there.

Looked that up on YouTube and I have to admit, I am a bit disappointed. Needs to be bigger!

If you have a pool nearby, then you have an almost limitless supply, so no need for cumbersome reservoirs...

My daughter's infant school had a water-fight afternoon a couple of years ago - she must have been about 4 and half so to save her the hassle of pumping I bought her a battery powered soaker. It doesn't hold a huge amount of volume and empties quickly due to the flow rate but the reach is good. It came as a pair so I sent her in with both incase there was a child who didn't have a gun. Transpires a teacher took the second one for herself.
