Watched this earlier, that'd be terrifying to drive
I drove one in the nineties in former Yugoslavia and it was like guiding an unwieldy boat and even had bench seats that added a huge amount to the sensation - fair amount of power ... in a straight line but overall, truly awful! This one (if you buy all the options available and live in the wilds) looks a totally different beast and a lot of fun. For those of us who might have to travel a few miles on roads to get the the great outdoors, however, it might not be such a cool idea - and doors off for one day in summer? Hmmm

Ah $50k. Beautiful. amazing. That's the crap truck Ed drove in Twin Peaks, why didn't you tell me?
Relevance to the UK? Nil.
Sorry for being grumpy, but this is nonsense for a UK website.
I guess nobody here should care or be interested in Vipers, Vettes, Stangs or Camaro either then. Or heaven forbid anything JDM only Ah $50k. Beautiful. amazing. That's the crap truck Ed drove in Twin Peaks, why didn't you tell me?

Personally I think this is the most interesting vehicle launch in a long time. And certainly has a great deal more appeal than the new Pretender does.

Oh please give it a rest with the juvenile 'Pretender' nonsense. Why don't you explain why the Bronco having independent front suspension is OK but it is some kind of travesty on the Defender?Personally I think this is the most interesting vehicle launch in a long time. Because the past Bronco used a TTB front axle. And it still has a live rear. And look at it! It looks friggin awesome and screams heritage. While the Pretender gives us fake plastic chequer plate to stick on the front of a fake plastic Defender.
To correct some previous comments & confusion,
Bronco underpinnings are based on the 'next' Ranger (which is also the 'next' VW Amarok as well). (Prototypes may of been hidden under cut down previous models for public testing, as is common practice)
Being Ranger based a diesel version is clearly possible.
Bronco Sport is a smaller/cheaper & transverse engined, unibody vehicle, based on the platform of Escape (Kuga to us).
It's similar to the 1980s to early 90s when there were two Broncos. Bronco (fullsize) was F150 based & Bronco ll (2) was Ranger based, (along with the first generation Explorer).

Yes, well... Between 1980 and 1996 - so a little more than 12 months, Ford only sold a piffling 720,000 of them and not just in the US. Now I'm sure that times change as much as taste does, however the OBS Bronco had a lot of appeal and they still command interest and relatively high sales values.I'm aware that compromise is always required betwixt concept and production - but in this case, I think Ford totally chickened-out and went for a dull cookie-cutter. I don't feel that the concept is midlife crisis - just a more striking, individual, handsome-looking vehicle that would accommodate a 4 door version, without bdizing the overall look.

Surely Ford have gone more EB than FSB with the styling of this new one.
Just as Dodge have done with Challenger. Ford look like they have looked at what people do in the aftermarket. And offered a production vehicle with the looks and performance only modified vehicles would normally have.

I assume you are aiming this comment at the GT86. Curious, have you ever seen projected and targeted sales figures for the model? And have they not been met? I have no idea. Hence asking. But I guess there is the reality they have sold very close to what they thought they’d sell.

And sales figures of Thunderbird are relevant how? This iteration of Bronco is supposed to be a nod to this ugly spud.
Ford aren't averse to going the retro route I just feel they went for the wrong generation. In profile silhouette the new one could be one of numerous generic SUVs.

I guess we are all different. I like this one. Whereas the one you posted earlier doesn’t grab me at all. To me it looks very generic and plain. This iteration of Bronco is supposed to be a nod to this ugly spud.
