Hello PistonHeads,
I hope you don't mind me posting in the forum. I have found PistonHeads a treasure trove of info in the past but couldn't find an answer to this in the searches, I thank you in advance for your time...
Welcome to PH! I'd suggest you post about this in our Speed, Plod & the Law forum. Usually there's a limit on posting here for new members, but I've lifted this from your account.

Hello!

Long-term reader, first-time poster!

I had a mechanical question about my car and wanted to post in case anyone had had the same or could suggest what the issue might be, but is it terribly bad form to pile straight asking for help! I've had a search and haven't found any other threads on the specific issue.

cheers

Hey all,

I am a relatively new poster to Piston Heads.

I want to post about a poor garage experience with a full timeline of events I had recently, to hear other users opinions and make them aware of the situation.

Any tips how I should go about this? ie avoiding use of garage/names, what is appropriate to share and where if so to create this discussion?

Many Thanks

Welcome to PH! I'm afraid we don't allow this sort of post on PH as it goes against our naming and shaming policy in our Rules of Posting.

Hello. Wow, what a great digital place this is. I can't believe I've never stumbled across you folk before.
Primarily I'm here for some advice on fixing my car and would love to be pointed in the right direction towards somebody who may be able to assist. However, I can see that there is so much more to PistonHeads.
Many thanks in advance

Hello and welcome,
We are a motoring based forum but like to discuss many many other things as well!
If you are looking for advice on fixing your car then maybe start a new topic in the home mechanics section:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&...

Hopefully someone will reply in your topic with the info you need.

I joined a weekor so ago, and thought I would use my first post to introduce myself.

I'm 62 and sort of retired, but do some bits and pieces here and there. I live on the Norfolk Suffolk border

I usually got to OH through Google searches on car related matters and was always impressed with the amount of knowledge that backed up the replies.

Conscious of how much time can be taken up on these types of forums, I didn't take too much notice of all the forums and threads, but I have been spending some time going through them, and it convinced me to sign up.

Cars - I have an Evoque, wife a Q2 and we have a 53 plate Honda CRV that we have had since new as utility and transports for the dogs.
I co- own a Lancia Appia Vignale convertible Series 3 with my son, which is undergoing restoration, slowly and expensively.

Since lurking here, I have ,mainly been looking at the Classic boards. Recently I have been going through old family photos, and I have come across a number with cars in that I would like to identify. Not sure if they're bread and butter to the experts on here or whether there are some genuine morals in there.

I think I will end up asking more than answering, but if I can help I certainly will.

Cheers

Nick

Welcome Nick! We love a good challenge on PH, so it's definitely worth posting your old car photos in the Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes forum to see if anyone can help identify them.

One further thing that has just cropped up, my son is looking at buying a small aircraft. I'm mostly Ok with the air worthiness, but i was looking for advice on how to check ownership, scams etc. etc. I couldn't find any specific area and wondered whether you had any suggestions on where to post or look elsewhere.

Many thanks

Holy Cow!

I’ve browsed pistonheads on a regular basis without an account for the past couple of years or so. I normally just click the New[Posts] button.

But I’ve just registered an account, and I’m a bit overwhelmed by the enormous number of forums and options that seem to be visible, compared to browsing without an account! Perhaps being properly registered, has simply routed me through a different series of menus.

So my first question is, is there a subforum or thread for new members to introduce themselves? I looked, but couldn’t find one.

Cheers!

Welcome! There's certainly a lot to take it. We don't have a forum specifically for saying hello, but why not start your own Readers' Cars thread to introduce yourself and your car(s)?
