Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 17]
Discussion
I lost my grandad yesterday to pneumonia after catching covid 2 weeks ago.
I wasn't close with that side of the family, but just goes to show that it's very real. So far it's all seemed a bit distant as I work from home anyway, and I'm a bit of a homebody type even when not working....
Put a bit of a downer on things I have to admit.

Sorry to hear that. It's been a terrible year for so many people.I wasn't close with that side of the family, but just goes to show that it's very real. So far it's all seemed a bit distant as I work from home anyway, and I'm a bit of a homebody type even when not working....

Thanks guys. My grandfather is 86, and we're particularly anxious about transmitting it to him (again!), whilst at the same time not wanting him to be alone at this time.
What a fked up year this has been.
Sorry to hear that Harry. I had the reminder to cherish loved ones last year when my uncle died. Prior to his cancer diagnosis I had hardly seen him for years and then realised you can't make up for lost years. Terrible balancing act to work out how to avoid shortening your grandfather's life while still cherishing him, and it's an issue millions are currently facing, most likely for some years to come. What a fked up year this has been.
But moving away from a descent into NPE chat, I have a barge quandary. I am moving out on Friday to a flat with only one parking slot. Wife (of 23 years) is looking to ditch the L322 as I'm no longer the bill payer, so I guess my choice is to have the TDV8 FFRR or keep one of my W124 260E or W212 E350CDi. I guess it's a bit like fantasy 3 car garage in reverse...
Lost my job (of 22 years) to Covid two months ago so please don't suggest I take the TDV8 and trade it for a real FFRR with a proper supercharged petrol engine! Parking slot is under the building and may be tight for the Rangie. E350 is a coolant and gearbox oil change away from fully sorted, W124 is an exhaust system away from ideal order. E350 is seeming favourite at the mo'.
Harry and Nicks sorry to hear about your bereavement, must be an exceptionally awful time to lose anyone when you can't gather as a family. And to everyone else who's lost someone this year.

Sounds like a tricky situation. I think I'd keep the 124 for 3 reasons - they're not a depreciating asset unless rotten, they're easy to keep in small spaces, and the E350 sounds like it'd be useful to release some capital which might be useful at the moment.Lost my job (of 22 years) to Covid two months ago so please don't suggest I take the TDV8 and trade it for a real FFRR with a proper supercharged petrol engine! Looks pretty clean if slightly uninspiring in all the greys.
LS values are all over the place. Loads sit unsold for 4K - not surprised this got snapped up. If I had seen that I would be tempted to gamble unseen. I hate grey but it suits it.

Do you need to do a lot of miles FatLad? I must admit that as a W124 nut, I always miss not having one around and keep coming back to them.
That's the thing, I don't need to do many miles and I do have faith in its reliability. But I prefer it as a second car and I admit I am a little worried about the image thing (it's Willow Green with bamboo cloth, ginger indicators... how the hell does that go down if I start dating someone outside this thread? I'd have more luck in a SC430 )Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
