Feel free to leave an E55 AMG W210 lying around .
It's almost on the floor lying round that bag of spanners. I've got one that looks exactly like a 210 55 but with a V6 petrol, half the running costs, half the power but with the factory 18" AMG wheels from new that i am shifting maybe next week, in very good order for a 210, here it isSpeckledJim said:
Well, that's the post of the month, isn't it?
An SLR that wasn't even the subject of it's own paragraph! Unreal collection.
True! Didnt realise that, an SLR is not that special for me though. What i would like to say though, I spent all my life in the trade, I don't think for a minute that if I hadn't have done then I wouldn't have been able to amass these cars the way I did and at the costs I did. I don't live in a big house or anything but having cash in the correct cars outweighs a lot of other ways to chuck your money at.An SLR that wasn't even the subject of it's own paragraph! Unreal collection.
Anyway, I have this too, knocking about in Spain, my grandads car this one.

TW124, may I ask what made you collect mostly Mercedeses? Like your (ex?)collection seems amazing with some proper special vehicles, but I am just wondering what is the story behind the collection, obviously if you are happy to share it and its not too personal
Nefos, no problem, I'm a very open guy, Mercedes because of my Father and also my Grandfather. All they both drove were Mercs. I'm 50 now and back in the early 70s my earliest memories of cars were obviously his. We're a very down to earth hard working normal class family, I have some amazing memories from very young all the way through my childhood of him and his cars and my grandads too. Both were butchers by trade and my dad did some expanding of the business and branched out into other areas - his business invented the microwaveable doner kebab believe it or not and with that expansion came many employees and the reps all had merc company cars which at the time were W123's. I was taken to the factory with my dad to pick up various brand new ones when I was young. So amongst all that, it just stuck with me and I've tried to stay nostalgic on behalf of my two peers who were joyful men for sure.Mercedes back then was a fantastic experience all round, being in one, driving them, even washing them for my folks, ordering one, collecting one or factory visits etc, it has been tattooed into my head. Nowadays, they're nowhere near up to scratch I'm afraid, you won't know this though unless you have had some of these experiences. modern merc's to me now just don't offer that prestige, build quality, looks, engineering, reliability and so on. they are just machines now. I've owned pretty much everything you can think of from Mercedes going back to the 50's almost.
The collection just grew as I went along, I own my Grandads old car from the 50's, quite a few of my dads old ones too, then being a dealer I found ones as I went along, then my contacts grew and it went from there as time went on.
I did own a car dealership up until fairly recently, a very well known brand which I can't name but was the butt of jokes in the 70's and 80's and I owned it privately, a huge UK based dealer group came along, bought me out with an offer I couldn't refuse, took over it, then shut the dealership down within 6 months. I've not been bothered working in the industry since.
Aside from Mercedes, I have had others too, I love old Citroens too but don't own any.
In summary, it's all nostalgic for me, possibly the biggest part of my life were those experiences and that's it. Maybe a yearning for me to go and live back in the 70's or 80's when the world was a brilliant place and I suppose I'm also carrying a candle for dad and grandad who are both long gone now. The main family owned old cars aren't getting sold by the way, just the stuff I don't have emotional attachments for.

Epic collection, shame you have to sell so many , however I guess that lot will net you a fair amount of money towards your dreams..

Haha, that's a 240 too, hopeless initial acceleration but it can move along when it gets going, these 210's, I am a huge fan of, superb cabin and gigantic load space, this one is being used to shift stuff for my daughter over the next month or 2 as she's just bought her first house. It's just a pit they look a bit odd at the front and they can crumble to pieces but for a dirt cheap massive estate, not much will beat it for comfort and load carrying capacity. My Dad has the V6 E240 estate in silver, I thought it would be amusing to have the E55 version next to it on the drive, looking the same apart from wheels and engine noise, confusing people as the cars drive off .

Incredible collection of cars and good luck with the move
I have a friend who umms and aahhs about getting a 560 SEC so any direction on when / where they are appearing would certainly be appreciated.
This looks to be a nice example and surely positioned for the inevitable haggle to top thread budget:
740 GL
It appears to be the proverbial
and may well be on other threads but I haven't checked.
26600 Miles, cloth interior and keep fit windows.
The only van you'd ever need, unless you can stretch to a TE of course...

I’m normally indifferent to the venerable W211, but this one looks absolutely fantastic;
2009 so a late model, 320 CDI (yes diesel unfortunately)
It also appears to have pretty much every optional extra. 134,000 miles and £4395 via Facebook marketplace

From new he had it, then my dad had it whilst he bought something else, then gave it back to grandad who retired, drove it round europe for 12 months then stopped driving due to a health problem. When he died, I took the car on. Used it for very special occassions because I was scared of it being damaged, so I drove it to Spain and left it there in a building I own.SLR

WOW that's worth moving to Spain on its own, stunning
Thanks, it's a very special car to me because of it being in the family from new. I was once offered 7 figures for it by an idiot who thought he can put a price on my head for it, snooty tt he was thinking I was some beach bum drifter ( although I do look like a tramp ) - told him to at least triple the money or go fk himself, he went to fk himself It's never for sale because A - I don't need the money no matter what the figure would be, it wouldn't change anything for me and B - I can't bring myself to sell it anyway and I don't want to.

Unless your Grandad was in Maroon 5 in which case I apologise.
Free pliers?! Want it now.
Tut tut. We would've respected a handful of ratty old Mercs without fantasising about mega cars.

I’ve never understood why people do this, you obviously have a keen interest in knackered old mercs like the rest of us. You clearly do own at least one w124. Why bother with making other stuff up.

And a pic of an SLR up for sale in Germany: https://www.luxuryandexpensive.com/Mercedes-Benz-M...Unless your Grandad was in Maroon 5 in which case I apologise.
