I think the LDV link was long gone as the previous gen Maxus were rehashed Daewoo vans after they went bust.
The project that resulted in the Maxus was a joint project between Daewoo and LDV.
It was Daewoo who went out of business, leaving LDV to finish the (new) design.
The Maxus was only introduced under the LDV name.

The previous project to replace the Sherpa was a joint venture with Renault, but in that case it was Freight Rover who went bust and the vehicle was released only as a Trafic

Maxus are one of SAIC's brands, MG are another. They also have the Mifa 9 EV, a full size MPV which is about to go on sale. No current Maxus has any Sherpa DNA

Seen loads of their vans around, have a feeling they are going to become a very familiar sight. As with MG they massively undercust their rivals and offer some very tempting deals and incentives. Can see the MPV becoming a popular taxi and might pick up some company car sales.

Oh dear, I didn't think it was possible to "improve" on those hideous Japanese MPV grey imports but you have just proven me wrong!

I do too. I'm thinking that's a genuine potential Pidgemobile in a few years time.

I saw this, what seems to be a Saab 900 estate on FB. There was no further info with photo, someone in the comments said it was called a Safari. If it's real I never knew this existed.

On closer zoomage inspection I think I may have been had by a Photoshop. Rear wing vent looks weird and window reflection is off.

No, they were built by Nilsson. Only 2 examples exist. Nilsson builds ambulances, hearses etc, these days mostly based on Volvo vehicles.

There are a couple of 9000 Kombis too, both one off aftermarket conversions.

The Lancia Thema was built on the same platform and was sold as an estate.

Of all the crimes against humanity committed by the CCP, buying ldv out of administration so they could build them and send them here is probably near the top.

What did Enzo think of Luigi sticking the NART logo with prancing horse to a non Ferrari ?
Assuming the badge was on there from new.

I like that. Presumably the Eldorado fwd engine/subframe arrangement has been spun around and placed at the rear, as it was in the Panther Six?

Dacia Maxibreak.

They made 12 of these apparently, seats 8.
There’s also one that was built as an ambiwlans.
