This one's recently dropped in price from £37995 to £34995. Obviously not a great seller at the moment.

There's nothing else 4 door V8 manual with similar power for the money.

Oooh, another Blue one! Have not actually seen any pictures of other blue ones in the country.

Regarding your other comment on the 50k+ price tag, that was 2014 for this model. M5 power and size for M3 money. Currently the M3's are sub 30k and the M5's even lower.
It does amuse that when new people would have looked at you askance were you to choose this over the equivalent M - now it's actually wirth more money than those same M's. Who was the mug?
That car has been on sale for 6 months. The orange one the article is written about has been on sale for around 18 months. The advertised prices don't prove their value as they aren't selling.

If they can't sell when there is very few of them, what would the values really be if there was a good supply of them?

Part of the reason they won't sell is because of the badge, it's the same with the GS-F they're a hard sell too, but both are bloody good cars.

Thing is, I have seen a fair few change hands in that time range, probably at the higher end, but only from a couple of dealerships really that are trusted by the community. Never seen that blue one so not a community member, not sure which orange one that is, but have seen one change hands a couple of times.

I guess they're just a niche car appealing to a very limited number of people. They're not the only thing that's a hard sell - there's plenty of the same used M5s, Mustangs etc that have been advertised for what seems like forever.

There are very few of the Gen F cars that I've ever seen come up for sale. The orange car in the article is one owner, I understand he may have swapped into a C7 Vette wink

They often do not get publicly advertised, just swap hands in the community.

Are you the former owner?

Afraid not. I'm on the lookout for something at the moment, so got an eye on what's out there. I believe it was a Picador supplied car. In my opinion I do think the colour is holding it back, and I say that as someone who doesn't go for dull coloured cars ! The orange ( Fantale, not Fantail as described in the article ) combined with the black wheels and red callipers just doesn't work well for me. Some of the Fantale HSV cars had yellow callipers, which oddly makes the whole thing look better to my eyes. Given the choice I would go for a white one, I think they look fantastic.

Have you seen any others advertised anywhere at the moment ?

I'm currently leaning towards a Challenger, but finding the right one of those at what I want to spend is easier said than done !

I’ve been enquiring with elite about the orange one and been told today it’s now sold. The blue one at picador also appears to have sold too.
Cap and Glasses have that car under 30k and retail is 35k f - so a 5k premium on retail felt a little strong for me even with the mods - i was going to offer 37 on it.

If a nice one comes up i’ll consider it - but you really need to look underneath them as they rust like a bugger.

They've always been difficult to put a value to, with such limited numbers in the UK. Agree £40k was looking top dollar for the orange one, especially if that's not your colour of choice.

Looks like there's just the white one on e-bay, and the black one on AutoTrader at the moment at £45k. Supposedly 850bhp. Debatable if that's such a great idea if it's an internally stock LSA.

Regarding price, note that all late model V8 GenF and VF HSV/Commodores has rocketed over here - 2016 VF2 Commodores with the 6.2 LS3 are AU$45k, anything with the supercharged LSA is asking AU$95k. Even to import your own is now going to cost...

I paid AU$40k for my 2016 Calais late last year, which had actually depreciated about $20k against list, but anything with sportier pretentious is holding up. If I’d bought the SS wagon I looked at, new, in 2017 I’d be looking at my car having appreciated over the past four years. Not many run-of-the-mill family cars could do similar.

Yes there's no way you could even start to think about buying one and shipping from Aus to UK at the current prices.

https://www.autotrader.com.au/for-sale/hsv/gts?sor...

They are bargains in the UK really, but hardly anyone appreciates what they are here. Plus £600 a year road tax and high fuel prices which people love to moan about.

The road tax is about the same as the AU$1100 its about to cost me for rego and CTP. I reckon I'm getting about 16mpg for the urban assault, which is OK for what it is, and no worse than any other 420bhp, 1900kg, 6-sp auto wagon and will prob average around 20mpg for its time with me.

The difference between doing 20mpg @ GBP1.50/litre and 40mpg @ GBP1.50/litre for 10,000 miles is less than GBP2k pa. I'm just not sure what cars, this size, with this capability are able to get make that sort of saving.

And why are we even discussing fuel economy when it comes to these cars? I'll go outside and have a quiet word...

The CAT-S one in MK? Just been to look at it - it's a bit of shed, felt like it was misfiring and pinking - i didn't even make him an offer on it.

edit; oh the bathurst one... @ 49k

Stock bottom end is fine on an LSA pushing 850ish BHP. Done about 40k miles in mine since it was upgraded to around that level of power.

There was a Gen-F GTS in white, sure it was on e-bay for sale at a dealer. Can't see it now, looks like the advert has disappeared.

ETA sure it was at Junction 17 cars, Peterborough.
