RE: Peugeot to sell factory restored 205 GTIs

Love this sea Hot Hatch.
One think that’s so different is the A and B pillars compared to today.
I think as another said a likely far more usable daily is the Clio Sport 172/182 so much raw performance with much more safety and modern expectations - also you’d not be worried about adding miles to a now valuable 205

I always see the Clio as kind of the modern 205 GTI. I think if I was track prepping a car or buying one for road use I'd choose the ClioOne think that’s so different is the A and B pillars compared to today.

I wonder if stock Clio Sport 172’s will start to creep up in time.
I think they'll probably shoot up and likely pretty soon, the special 182 Trophy's seem to already be going up. EP3's have shot up already the only Clio I think would be nice, are those Clio V6 mk2
even though those FWD fast Clio's could be faster, personally I find the Clio V6 more special, but sadly also expensive.
here my old green metallic Gentry GTI, sadly those days no digital kamera..., so took a picture from that album
I also liked those 1.9 Rallye models, here also a old one from long time ago.
and here another old once owned Gutman 205 1.9 GTI but without a Dimma wide body
And I try to get all my old once owned cars in 1/43 (some very difficult to find and ow...expensive when you owned more then 130 cars)
here the Peugeot cars, I now have all, most in color except 2, the white 106 rallye should be a black version, so have to paint that, I can not find one in 1/43 in black.
and that cheap 205 T16 model is going to be the base to look like my old 205 GTI 1.9 Dimma Gutman in purple.

They've started a while ago, perhaps 2 or 3 years ago. I’ll wager plenty here remember the 205 /R5 GTT etc all getting cheap but then they suddenly were not and everyone wants one.

This is mega cool. I'd love to do this. Where do you find them all?here the Peugeot cars, I now have all, most in color except 2, the white 106 rallye should be a black version, so have to paint that, I can not find one in 1/43 in black.

Some are very hard to find, especially in the right colour, or with the peugeot 205, some I owned had 5 doors... so... even harder to find in the right color, you have to be patient, some were made many years ago and some in limited numbers... so even harder to find and way more expensive.
sometimes they come back on the market (second hand as new from collectors) with some examples you have to be fast, many people are looking for some hard to find examples... ebay has a lot, but also local second hand websites and or specialist car model shops online.
I also put search notifications on websites for some models from some types, some brands have those special cars in great looks, mostly limited numbers, but those look really good.
like say those 4 (not all limited), this is when I got them, all new, those were not to hard to find, but they look lovely for such small 1/43 car, oh those memories with the real cars.
I also had many BMW and say, the BMW M coupe (Z3) had a few black and silver and a s54 phoenixyellow, that last one was 'easy' and great looking from Minichamps, but... no black one or silver one that I could find from Minichamps, other brands had those, but did not look that good... but say the 3.0 Z3 coupe from that other brand looked very well (also had 2 of those) so in the end I bought 4 phoenix yellow M coupe Z3 from Minichamps limited edition.. which I came across on a few adreses, so maybe in time I paint those in the right color... but its not really a job I like with such small cars, but hey, no hurry.

Doesn’t Chris (Monkey) Harris have a 205 Rallye? I’m pretty sure I recall a video of him hooning it up a mountain pass and genuinely stating it was so much better than xyz sports car/super car
not sure, but was that the 1.3 or the 1.9 rallye, I had such 1.9 which they sold in Germany, not in our Netherlands so it seems.I also just read that a 205 Rallye is 10 times more rare then a GTI.
but indeed, those are lovely little cars to play with.

Just checked, it was a 911R.

Yeah his is a proper Euro car too with more carb than engine. He adores it What’s the difference between the 1.3 & 1.9 Rallye. Did either properly go racing.
Seems like a car you’d be max to offload really the experience is everything ( a big like the Citroen AX GTI I remember being a passenger when a friend hooned it massively in the Brecon Beacons induction K&N race exhaust and so so light

I get all that. I was lucky enough to own a 309GTI whilst having a 205GTI 1.6 and 1.9 available to use at work. They were all great...in the late 80s. But anyone buying one today, fully restored, for more money that a brand new Civic Type R or the like, is crackers...imho.
They're not crackers, they just like different things to you.Welshbeef said:

Difference is just over 600cc, 2bhp and a weight disadvantage for the 1.9 Rallye!

but... the 1.3 is more raw, the 1.9 should have 160hp at least to make it up a bit... so there you have it, rare 1.9, more hardcore/fun, the 1.3
I also owned a Talbot Samba Rallye with those 2 twin carbs, great sound, big fun for such small car.
me in my Rallye back in 1988 lol, on my way to Luxembourg's curvy roads

No, they like the same things. They are just prepared to pay an amount of money for them that makes them, in my opinion, crackers.
This is so true. The Clio 182/182 CTR breadvan are probably way better a buying option. However if you have the means and desire then buying the one you want which I’d wager those buying will buy and it be a keeper for life. Every drive(infrequent) would be an event and never used for mundane.
Good for those who spend £30-50k on 30 year old hot hatches - that’s way way way beyond what I’d spend but happy to see some petrol heads keeping great bygone era cars going.
