Just came on here for a bit of a rant really after today's experience whilst out for a drive.
I have had an R8 spider for a few years so I'm quite familiar with getting looks and attention when driving, but a few months ago I went and bought a McLaren.
Now this gets a LOT of attention, which I don't mind at all, actually I suppose I quite like it most of the time. But one thing that's really starting to annoy me is people thinking it's cool to film you when they're following behind, waiting for me to boot it or drive like a tt so they've got a video to share with their mates or to stick on the interweb.
I've just had two scrotes in a Civic type R sitting up my arse, flashing their lights whilst holding a phone up to the windscreen for several miles thinking this is the right way to get me to give it beans. tts!!
Do people not realise that recording will have the opposite effect? Especially now that you can upload footage directly to the coppers and it's bye bye license.
Just wondered if other people get pissed off with the same thing? Or am I just getting old...

Perhaps they were taking close ups of the shocking panel gaps and general Tesla standard of build quality?

I suspect the unspoken un-replied response to your moan, camouflaged as bragging, is 'tough'. It's 2020 not 1920 & the disaffected, the envious, the Minorities & The Yob rule so if you drive something that is considered by them as excessively expensive purchased just to show off what do you expect? Were you hoping to be admired & respected for being an achiever & thus able to afford such things? Not these days sadly. It's worse than that because you may well be seen as a laughing stock too.

It comes with the territory of buying a look at me car. It is what it is.
Both the looks and the noise are attention grabbing, and are that way by design.

Someone who must either live near me or visit near me has regularly started giving it flat out to the limiter in their v10 r8 first, second and third up a 30mph road past the primary school my kids go to at least a couple of times a week, cant wait to see it parked up.

I think some love it, go to Alderley Edge, loads of car spotters and the same cars driving up and down making a racket, bright yellow 911 RS something or other earlier popping and banging.

A lot of people know about cars nowadays via Top Gear etc and love to see the interesting stuff, though they shouldnt annoy the drivers.

I can sort of see your point. Punting it in second for some interested petrol heads is one thing if a little cringe. It being filmed and being posted on Facebook, Insta etc is another.

The answer is simple just don’t show off. I have never done anything beyond letting kids sit in my Ferrari to take pics.

Cars like Mclarens get attention it’s a choice to play up to it or not.

The worst scenario I often encountered was peole sitting off my rear 3/4 whilst filming. Rearward vision in Lambos is renowned for not being particularly good, so sitting in a blind spot like that made changing lanes a bit of a lottery.

Not forgetting the minuscule residue of polish on the rubber that is invisible unless under a macro.

I can relate; I get this all the time in my Peugeot. I can only assume it's jealousy.
