I wonder how difficult it could be for the manufacturers to develop a system whereby an impact would cut the throttle out automatically via sensors as a safety feature.
Even if the car automatically hit the brakes on impact momentum would still be there, I doubt the outcome would be any different.Adam_W said:

Surely the growth of EVs is going to make this a more regular occurrence as Doris and Neville go out in their little runabout that does 0 - collision in 3.2 seconds
Yeah, I have pondered that possibility, 2 tonnes, four wheels drive and all that torque.Could be a bad combination with older folk who are coming to the end of their driving career (happens to us all !) and they are struggling, you know when you hear that screaming engine and someone moving off slipping the clutch, an EV wont just bog and stall or kangaroo it will take a out a shop or two, saw it happen with a Jag as a kid, she wasnt that old, just a bit of a Gin enthusiast.

Is the Audi driver over 70 years old perchance?
Apparently not. Tommo87 said:
It was the young driver in the Audi who was trapped, according to the latest stories.
No action being taken by the police, and the article cites civil action for the insurance.

Going a bit off topic it's strange (not) that said exhaust pipe peters out under the boot area and doesn't go anywhere near the two "exhaust ports" in the rear bumper. A sheep in wolf's clothing?
The pipe looks like it’s going nowhere, but is actually just feeding the silencer that goes across the back of car.. quite a deceptive picture though.. And it’s “VW in a posh frock” these days..

I think it's a 2 as well, the turret looks more mk2 than mk1Like most modern tanks they are fairly spectacular to watch - seeing a Dutch Leo powerslide around the arena at speed (think it was a 2A6) at Tankfest a couple of years ago is a vivid memory in a three Leo formation accompanied by the Tank Museum’s ex-Canadian examples, matched by a similar demo by a Challenger 2 following it. Tanks have moved on a lot from the slow lumbering machines of the past.
