I wish I had the cojones to drive this thing!
What’s the point?
Well the point could be that in fact it IS pointless, but that’s what’s makes us human beings and not some simian dangling from jungle greenery. We do things to eat, to stay warm, to reproduce and live but we also go to the moon (or not..), dive to the bottom of the oceans, glide using wing suits etc
A pity a couple of the respondents on this have resorted to behaving like said simians; enjoy it whilst we can because as sure as vegan eggs are vegan eggs, Theta Gruntburger and her yoghurt weaving mates will have us moving around in solar-powered wind sails soon enough...

Technically impressive, yet in the real world, if I used more than a fraction of its ability, I'd be in jail.

That said, it would be great if the same people involved could build us a flying car. Take the exact same performance (300+ mph), and I would use it happily flying down to the south of Spain every chance I got; at least that speed is well within normal usage (commercial jets are almost twice as fast, actually).

Truly amazing acceleration over 250MPH.

It looked and sounded like there was still more there.

It’s a great looking car, really like the styling.

But, 330 mph, you wouldn’t even be able to find an airstrip long enough to do it.

So great for pub bragging rights, but that’s all really.

I’d much rather they concentrated on making it the fastest round a track, the lightest, the most fun to drive. You know, things you can actually experience and enjoy, rather than giving it a top speed you never will.

It has been about 15 years since I did over 200MPH but I recall it very well; I just did it because I could. and completely understand why we want to break any recoed that exists, just because its there.

I cannot imagine ( nor would I have the skill on the least) to do 331 MPH, but I am very glad someone could do it. Maybe one day we will see 350MPH. Of course its not practical or useful, but neither is climbing Everest or any other extreme achievement. Still a thrill though.

I have to ask why not?

What's the point of any quick cars?

The simple answer is FUN especially in States as they do roll on runs all over the US with 2000-3000bhp supercars pulling big speeds.

It looked so effortless.
Starting off with a slow increase, i noticed 70 was still in 2nd gear?

Then only really starting to push around 200, that's bonkers!

I’d like to try on the Autobahn. If it was good enough for 270 odd mph 80 years ago!

Amazing achievement. Some of the posts on here are negative to the point where I can't understand why you would sign up to a car forum. Anyone know of any sites left where people are actually interested in driving cars?

Why climb Everest or go to the moon? If you have to ask...........you'll never understand.

What's the point in motor racing? Lots of silly men in boiler suits driving around in circles, ending up in the place where they started.

Saves overheating the tyres I believe, they did the same for the last Koenigsegg record.

Oddly I like this in ways I did not like the Bugatti when it broke 270 or 300, this seems like the underdog effort an also i bet this costs a lot less than a limited edition Bugatti. The real thrill would be owning one and turning up to an even twhere people are crowding round a Divo or a Chiron Pur Sang and saying yeah nice car but its not that fast.

That might be a priceless moment

PH article said:
It produces its best on E85 fuel (with the US’s 91-octane grade it develops a measly 1,350hp).
Here are some supporting comments, to put the above in context:

. . . The US measures octane based on the average of two variables; most of the world uses one. Example here.

. . . This means that we find a difference of say, four to six points between a US octane number and its equivalent in the UK.

. . . E85 has an octane rating of 108 in the US. The equivalent figure in the UK would be higher still.

. . . 91 octane as mentioned by PH is limited to Nevada, California, and a handful of other states that require a particular formula for reduced emissions.

. . . 93 octane is available elsewhere, and this is equivalent to super unleaded fuel in the UK. A small number of states split this difference, topping the octane range at 92.
