standard amg's have over 620 hp these days, imo there's not much point in brabus anymore. although I have lots of respect for them.
Great brand but 400k. Evolves M5 has more power, is faster, is reliable and that is about 30k in upgrades. Just saying smile
Sticking a downpipe and remap is slightly different though than having an engine which is pretty much a new engine with most the internals changed and bigger capacity etc

I know MRC can get an easy 850bhp from an RS6 without touching the internals but its what you pay for bespoke with the Brabus

I agree with you completely-Evolves 1000+ F90 had major engine modification. Fully built, new turbos, rods, pistons. Sure it's not a Brabus but it's a very impressive and professional job which is brutally fast. I believe 0-60 (2.5s) 0-124 (7s). Different market clearly.

I usaully love the work of Brabus- like the CLS Rocket or the E63 850 posted previously. This however, is way too OTT personally. The nardo grey colour doesn't suit is, neither do the wheels and grille.

BTW, Bottrop. Why does every PH article need to mention the manufacturers hometown every time?

All the appeal of a warm turd-bath.

Power alone doth not confer appeal.

That said, I'm sure someone will be more than happy with their insecurity-barge.

Coming soon to a McDonalds drive-thru near you.

For people with money to waste.

This sort of car no longer makes sense. Thirty odd years ago Mercedes made great cars (for the time) but they were not that fast. I could sort of understand the appeal of a bigger engine and tuning, especially if you lived in Germany and could exploit that power on the autobahn. However, cars - including Mercedes - have become insanely powerful over the last thirty years so you are paying over the odds for very marginal gains. Certainly in the UK the increased power is only a theoretical benefit. Not a problem if you want to brag about how quick your car is, but then perhaps in such cases you perhaps need to grow up and/or mix with adults.

The boys and girls of Bottrop say this is "a new masterpiece"

Really? All of them? And they say it in English? How old are these children?

Just... stop. It's a journo affectation and it's nonsense

I’ve come to realise that 0-62 times isn’t about power and AWD as 2.8 seconds isn’t that fast considering, BMW M8C is 3.2 0-62, this isn’t much faster.

I’m not saying it’s what it’s all about and I’m sure this car isn’t about 0-62 but I used to frequent the Brabus website all the time as a kid and I was obsessed with 0-62 times and horsepower. I had always wondered what the 0-62 times would be on the various rockets and bullets they sold if they were AWD and apparently it wouldn’t have been much.

This half a million pound Brabus would still get dropped by 911 Turbo S.

I’m not that guy to say what’s the point as it’s all a laugh at the end of the day, extracting big power and going fast but for the money, I don’t see what’s so special about this car.

I understood why older brabuses cost more as they’d put V12’s in E classes and C classes!
I was hoping this has the SV12 900hp engine before I read the article - that would have made it a unique offering. A few kg more weight w0uld hardly have made a difference - it is not like big Mercs with Brabus engines are bought for handling - Autobahn and full throttle is their environment (or cruising on Mayfair for that matter (guess that’s why they can’t be understated otherwise no point)...
The Rocket cars have always been about this expensive imo, so no surprise there

I’d love one of the Stage 3 Evolve M5s, but not exactly the same as buying from Brabus, Ruf or Alpina which have decades of history (put differently some upstart supercar manufacturer’s car might perform better, but it does not necessarily make it more appealing than a Ferrari). I’d happily buy the Evolve, but money no object I’d probably go to Brabus for my crazy Autobahn 4-door

Second one nearly did it

Clearly not true. Just look at the multitude of massively powerful cars being driven at or close to their maximum speeds on YouTube.

I Agree!
I've a been a PH 'er since about 2003 but I've noticed any recent articles about clever Engineered hi power vehicles which are beyond most people budgets but are interesting from a 'Pistonhead' point of view are usually followed with comments like:
' whats the point too fast for UK roads' ...Autobahans, US or Middle east roads..Maybe?

' Or using too much petrol , why not an EV'..?

What happened to the admiration of clever automotive engineering for the sake of it...because they can?

I will never be able to afford Mr Murrays T50 Hypercar , but the YouTube run through with Harry Metcafe is excellent for car fans as it's great that those cars are still being built , so enjoy them while you can!

Even on the thread on the 331mph road going SSC there negative anti ICE and the skills used for engineering those sorts of vehicles...

Why are they on a website called 'PistonHeads, Speed Matters' ..at all....

Imagine the immense wave of torque that rolls in, when you simply give it part throttle.

Imagine a transcontinental journey in this beast.

I'd like to delete the "belt buckle" letter B from the grille. A bit much for me.

And I wouldn't mind if the door handles were shaved. Give the car a seamless fuselage look.

Remember the Brabus E V12 from the '90s? Based on the old W210 E Class.

That was how a mega fast Merc should look. Subtle, unremarkable, restrained; to 99.9% of people, just another Merc with nice wheels. None of this horrid, fussy, attention seeking, pointlessly aggressive styling that afflicts the 2020 equivalent...

1000 bhp M5, I guess my earlier comment is definitely invalid as I thought a car of this power would get dropped by a 911 Turbo however it’s not that much quicker in the 1/4 and the engine didn’t sound healthy at all on that BMW!

I guess that’s why the brabus is so expensive, to change the engine like that and make it meet emissions standards with a 3 year warranty.

A lot of engineering, hats off to them

On another note, a few days ago a 1000 bhp M5 hit 207 mph and a 800 bhp or around that E63 hit 210mph at a VMAX event.

This Brabus’s top speed is limited to 205mph due to tyre limitations.

Anybody have any idea what that’s about? Brabus have made a few cars that go over 230mph, what kind of tyres would this rocket need and why not fit them considering the car costs €450,000
