Yep, had an MOT at 936 miles in January 2016, sold for £54,000 around March 2016, then clearly thoroughly enjoyed for the last 4 and a half years whilst it's covered 6 miles before being put up for sale at £65,000.

I can't help but feel that assuming the owner would have had to pay auction fees etc. at Silverstone Auctions in 2016, there's been inflation since, and the dealer won't have taken it off them for £65,000, that's been a pretty ste 'investment' given it will have cost money to store it and transport it around as well?

How rare really is it? Very low mileage examples of these last of the line Capris seem to turn up quite frequently, as do very low mileage end of the line MGBs, and classic Minis (last time I looked there were two being offered for sale with less mileage than this one has on the clock). This seems to be an increasing investment trend, which might well kick the bottom out the market.

I had a very good one of these as a daily for about 5 years a few years ago - upgraded the bushes and shocks and whatnot and it still felt like a bit of bathtub to drive -and low on torque.

Had one of the last 280 Brooklands as a Company car late 1987 from Quicks Ford in Bury £11500 with discount otr if I remember correctly. Reg was somethong like E80 ONA. Fully Waxoyled from new underneath then unfortunately left the Co 2 weeks later.

Must admit I was slightly underwhelmed by the car which at the time was ageing very very quickly relative to other cars on the market.

A very tidy D reg 280 Brook was sold by Mathewsons auctions in a recent series of Bangers and Cash seem to recollect it only got £15k ish.

Only available in green btw as no such thing as Brooklands blue.

I was chatting to my mates about this car only last night. I've always loved these and I've always wanted a V6 Capri or any description. I wish I had the money for this. cool

Pedant points for me?
They were originally going to be called Capri 500 and Ford even had the decals made up (only found this out when I owned an RS500!) but realised they had around 1038 body shells remaining so instead of building 500 they built 1038 (or whatever the number was)
Asking a question, I’m sure that the Brooklands actually came in Brooklands Green and a few in another, very similar green, if anyone can enlighten us?
As an aside there’s a Special regularly passes my place in the summer months and they look so small compared to modern stuff, but I’d rather have the Crapi to be honest (and if you are the owner and live near Ashover in Derbyshire, I doff my hat to you sir for using it as intended!)

Back in the mid 80's I read all the hype about the Oselli tuned 3.0S in CCC, took my 3.0 block there for their 3.1 conversion. The Powermax pistons they supplied picked up in the bores shortly afterwards. Rang them to tell them about it, and they said "ours did that too", wkers. As for the 280, it was the slowest 2.8 injection Capri of the lot.

That's done far more than 942miles. The wear on the drivers bolster says that alone.
My 32k mile 2.8 has less wear.
With an analogue speedo and no other way to record its 'history' this is a clockers dream.
These were very poor quality and hideous to drive (as is mine), there's far better stuff out there for this money to cover up and store away than this. The white background is adding at least £40k...

I had a nearly new black 2.8 Injection Capri in the 80s and didn’t find it disappointing or badly put together. No worse than any contemporary Ford.
It was only the prospect of a TVR that made me move on.

By the time of the 280, the Capri was showing its age against even Ford’s own XR and RS models.
The 280 was a run-out to shift the last few.

I’d be really keen to see the paperwork for this car. But if it’s absolutely legit, it’s worth whatever someone will pay for it, like anything else.

I wouldn't consider any 2.8 Injection Capri without a Turbo kit on it. £30k + is comedy money for any Injection Capri.

I get your drift but the 400 was a 2.4 with Cosworth developed twin cam heads iirc and had a reputation for being made of chocolate
Yes the output wasn’t far off the 2.8 Capri but a totally different type of car
Does anyone remember the X-frame that you could buy to stick under the chassis of a Capri to stop leaf spring twisting etc and better rear suspension location?

Back in 1984 I bought a Stratus Silver 1982 4-speed and just loved it!

But in 1985 it had to go to help fund the deposit on my first house. frown

Still it was unfinished business so in 1987 after working all the overtime available I got a 1981 Caspian Blue over Silver 4 speed that I kept for 2 years and loved that too. Not sure why but I replaced it with a Scorpio. laugh

They were a quick car back in the day. I'm pretty sure Autocar got a 4 speed to 60 in 7.9 seconds, but only managed 8.2 with a Special - I think the 5 speed ones had slightly different gearing.

Funnily enough in 2014 I bought a 2002 BMW 325ti Compact that seemed like a more modern take on the same formula, but was probably better in every way - apart from the looks!

In some ways I'd quite like a Brooklands, but assuming I had the cash I would rather pay far less for one I could actually use without killing it's value.

Although it would probably be disappointing now - sometimes memories are best left that way. rolleyes

It is 33 years old though, leather dries and cracks.

Try looking at a one year old 3 Series, you’ll see bolster wear a plenty.
