I like the car but I’m not keen on the price.

At £27k its a lot of money. For only £2k more you could buy a pre reg BMW 330i M Sport. Of course it’s not a valid comparison but the point is you can buy a lot of car when you’re pushing towards £30k
A new 320i SE is £33935.00 a 318i SE £31590.00
The 318i SE is £27k on Broadspeed, very different cars though.

I expect that the market will price these correctly in time with the usual discounts on the Ford. No-on surely will be paying £27k for a Fiesta?

I'm comparing List Price with List Price, people can't be complaining about the list price & then comparing the list price to discounted cars.

Looks better here than it did on top gear tonight against the Macca and Flying Spur.

Regardless, lovely little car. Pricey on paper, I suppose.

The point is you likely will get zero discount on one of these because of its limited numbers. But you can get big discounts on almost everything else...and pre reg makes them even cheaper.

£27k for a Ford Fiesta? £21k pre registered Cooper S Sport with JCW pack is where I would place our money.
My Cooper S was £25k new with the options I have on it. These shopping cars are expensive nowadays for sure. So I can see why many would go to the next class up in car, for more performance/more car for the money.

This size and weight of car are good fun to drive though I reckon, and they don't feel big/heavy to throw around on a nice twisty road.

Couple more pics from actually out driving it. Ford hadn’t done any more yet, so that’s why the launch pics are here again!

Really like this. Only thing that'd put me off is that the Fiesta must be due a facelift fairly shortly.

Is there any difference at all to the orange Performance Edition released last year minus the paint colour? It seems to me to be the same exact car.
Not really. Has a sport button on the steering wheel.

As for the price, it's an RRP. We paid nothing like that for our Performance Edition. Brilliant little car, and a hoot to drive.

The interesting thing that struck me Lee was, like for like, that with the news stories on this Fiesta, the delivery mileage Capri 2.8 and the Exige S V6 .....they all weigh the same!

1255kgs! That is quite heavy for a small hatchback. I wonder why it weighs so much?
They're not actually small cars anymore. I was given an ST Line as a courtesy car from the local alignment place and as surprised at the size of it. It felt loads bigger than my old Mk7.

£27k does seem like a lot of money and pushes it close to cars from the next size up (eg BMW 128ti). If there are only 300 of these, will there be good discounts like on the standard cars?

The Mk8 is about 95mm longer IIRC, and virtually the same height and width as the Mk7

Will people actually buy these at book though? Carwow has the standard one at 2.5k off.

It left an awful lot bigger than my Mk7 - it felt taller and it seemed a shedload bigger inside. Much more like an older family hatch inside than a supermini.

Feels much bigger, but isn't.

Mk7.5 ST on the left, Mk8 on the right. Details from Parkers.

Quick Google and Autocar say its 71mm longer and 12mm wider - its a wee bit bigger but they've clearly worked on the packaging because it felt fare more roomy than my old Zetec S inside.

We had a Mk7.5 ST and now have a Mk8 ST - it doesn't take up much more room in the garage. Interior is much better packaged. Same is true of the Mk4 Focus comapred to the Mk3.

This is a similar situation to the old supercharged Cooper S and the latest one

Surprisingly little difference in exterior dimensions but the higher bonnet line of the new one makes it seem a lot bigger and wider
