New G20 M3 vs 2018 F80 M3 CS?
Discussion
I'm toying with the idea of buying an M3, and have had my eyes on the CS version of the current F80 model.
It looks great, is very rare, is probably the best of this generation. Used prices are about 30% down from their crazy list price at new, with cars listed around £60k with sub 10k miles on the clock. I'm hoping it's rarity will protect it from much depreciation... (Or am I being naive?...)
Then there's the new M3, looks aside (I quite like it) it's an unknown in terms of performance and the first few cars always have some teething issues. It's a bit more.
What would you do?

The CS is supposedly a more raw and focused variant of the M3 , so if that’s why you’re interested , I doubt a more standard variant of the new car would even suit your driving aspirations and you’d be better waiting a few years until CS or higher iterations of G80 are developed.
I was never satisfied with my drives of the Comp Pack (CP) version of the F8x generation. Found the M2C more fun. I never tried the M3/4 CS as they have the same non adjustable lumbar seats as the CP which I already knew I hated. But had that not been the case I would have been interested in M3 mCS as a 4 door makes more sense to me.

If you could get over the looks of the G80 M3 (I can’t) at least the issue of “teething technical problems” should not really be an issue, as the S58 and M Xdrive system (lifted from the F90 M5) is tried and tested in the X3/X4 M, and has proven to be a very stout mechanical package.
The interior and tech on the new one is a big step up. I’m sure the drive will be fantastic. If you also are ok with the looks (I’ve come around to it and think we will get used to it very quickly and it will date the previous model) then G20 would be my choice.
I watched this last night. The Tanzanite with Kyalami looks stunning.

£60k for an M3 CS seems expensive to me bearing in mind they retailed at that post discount and they are hardly unique vs a Comp. They look very expensive compared to the £70-odd-k M4 GTS' which have bespoke hardware not which is not available on the other variants.
Interesting. They still seem to be selling, it would be good to know how much for...
What kind of price do you think they would be selling at?
M3 Competitions seem to be going/listed between £37-£45k, that makes me feel that £55k-60k for the CS is about right, but I'm a total amateur at this stuff.
This is the one I have my eyes on:

I try to avoid new models until the facelift is released to iron out the defects.
M3CS now and re-evaluate in three years? It'll depreciate but nowhere near the rate of the new one.
There's a blanket BMW price rise on 1st Jan coupled with a potential 10% no deal import tariff that could make the new one even more expensive although I'm hearing of up to £10k discounts already.
