(With massive thanks to Funk for the previous year, the inspiration must continue)

The new Wiki - Here

My story - used to be a serious sportsman, but over the last 5 years been having more and more heart issues. Had an operation in November, now it's the long slow climb back to fitness. How about you?

I was at 85KG in the summer of 2019 and decided I needed to change. Began using MFP to track my intake and doing regular HIIT videos from YouTube.

Started 2020 at 78KG and ended the year at 72KG. I was down to 70KG at one point in the year but annoyingly put a couple of kilos back on. Majority of my exercise was HIIT with 1-2 casual five a side games before lockdown.

I tried a ‘12 week transformation’ thing from a PT that a friend recommended during summer, lost a paltry 1.1KG despite following the strict calorie intake limits and doing all the exercises. PT’s response was pretty much “oh well, do you fancy paying me another £250 for the ‘stage 2’ part.” I politely declined and went back to YouTube HIIT classes.

Got a few weddings to attend this year so need to trim down a bit more before I buy a new suit! Despite dropping almost 15KG some of my gut still remains and I’m determined to get rid of it.

My main issue is finding a plan or routine that will work longterm. The only equipment I have at home is a barbell, some dumbbell handles and 60kg in assorted weights plus some resistance bands. The prices of things like olympic barbells, plates and benches are still bonkers and I’m avoiding gyms as a family member is high risk so we playing it safe.

Yeah sign me up for this - buying a house and renovating it every weekend was justification for having some beers, which became some beers all the time, which became lots of beers and accompanying beer snacks. But it was manual labour right, so I deserve it.

Bah.

Need to drop a good three to four stone before (if?) my holiday in Florida happens. Tall order but I need to have big goals or I switch off.

I would like to join please. Apologies for my lack of I.T. skills, i don't know how to update the wiki.
GaRog, 5ft6, join date 3/1/21, starting weight 96kg, target weight 80kg, current weight 96kg, lost so far 0kg, plan of action is more exercise and improvements to diet.
Toward the end of last year I lost 6kg in a month by just having a myprotein whole food blend shake in the morning when i got to work, then most days not eating until around 1800. Some days I'd have a banana whilst by delegates were having lunch.
Over Christmas I managed to regain it all plus a bit more, so plan to get back on the meal replacement and start losing weight again.
Thank you

Thanks pal

Just had 15 min skipping 30 sec on 30 sec off so 7.5min then tried old man yoga.

Plan is to ease back into exercise and start weight in 3 weeks.

Anyone any expireice of yoga / stretching for men in there 40’s? It’s the one thing I don’t do enough off

Count me in!

Similar to Don1 I've gone from being an in-shape sportsman sitting at ~75-80kg 7 years ago. There's been a gradual decline over the last few years due to a move to enjoy London-living, very frequent business travel (aside from March 2020 onward), very frequent business entertaining, combined with a "loss of love" (read; laziness) with the gym has resulted in the heaviest I've ever been at 110.4 kg on 1/1/2021.

Looking back I can see a few attempts to drop weight on MyFitnessPal when I hit negative milestones (90, 95, 100, kg, etc) but the attempts never lasted beyond "yoyoing" back to the weight prior.

Already making steps this year to exercise every day to reform that habit, cut back the drinking (currently doing dry Jan but thinking I may extend this out to at least 6 weeks for a liver reset), and just generally make better micro-decisions every day regarding diet.

Along with weight, I've ordered a DIY blood test to see if I can also improve these results over the year:

Vitamin B9 & B12 (Active)
CRP
HbA1c (Diabetes)
Advanced iron profile
Liver function
Cholesterol (Lipid profile)
Thyroid profile
Vitamin D
Testosterone
B12
