How long did 17 last in comparison to the others? I think it's 0a that tracks it isn't it?

On W140 prices taking off (sorry could not do a cross thread quote) I would argue they already have. My S500 was about £2,000 and I had a massive choice of cars at around that price. Now they are all about 3 x that.

Maybe an E60 is the way for me (I like them) they are modern enough but old enough to be of not much interest, prices are low ish and they don't have much of a following yet. If I save for a bit more maybe £4k will get me a nice 2005 ish 530i M Sport.

Some ok ones on eBay currently; there's a nice looking 06 version

All 530d and 535d examples usually

A pre-2007 3.0 is the one to go for in a 530i. Not really a torque laden engine but smooth and reliable.

I was tempted by a 530i estate, especially when I found out you can 'remap' the automatic 'box but went in a different direction in the end.

I think COVID might keep things mental for a bit yet, so I'm going to say no, except to caveat that we'll see one hyper-mile barried shed in silver pop up.
