I dare say this is going to end up way over budget, but just look at it (well, look at the bits of it that the seller hasn't hidden behind a boat).

Frustrating that I couldn’t get anywhere near £5k for my S3 V12 5 years ago (Yes, I know), and it was one of the very cleanest out there with 65k miles at most.

I mean, the wheels have to go but otherwise, strong want.
Seats look wrong too: from an 80’s 240/244 I suspect. I could be wrong though

Wheels are awful
Seats may be original - it's a special edition 1977 Jubileum. It'll have the same power:weight as the house it's parked next to.

This is what a €17k example looks like....

I've uncovered a company called "Arrows" in Japan who'll rebuild you a S124 or classic W463 G Wagen in rather hipster-tastic period looking colours with natty seat upholstery (not standard). They also de-wood the dash to underline the pov-spec ambiance! £27k for a finished 320TE or £13 grand to refurb your own car.

Look like good sympathetic revivals. Really liven them up, especially like that lighter patterned cloth really lifts the interior.

ETA: Can someone tell me why this 211 500 estate is so pricey? It looks in good fettle but 10 bags.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010185...
The seller is greedy and is holding on to what he perceives is a rare and desirable vehicle.
It has an extra 80bhp over the older 500, and fixes a load of the bigger problems (rust, SBC). Dangerously close to 55 AMG pricing though.

That steering wheel looks like a crap kids toy as well....

It's sad whenever you know the car you're referring to before even clicking the link biggrin

As Michael has said there's maybe an element of greed or speculation on them part of the seller. To me it looks a little plain compared to Stegels which looked much better.

I think it's in a tough place because for around that money you can get a fully loaded S500 limo for less money which will look so much more expensive.

You gotta really want that engine in an estate body to open negotiations and most people needing a car like that will go SUV.
The chap that sold his S211 to Grote had a serious conversation with the seller within the first month of advertising. The seller has just purchased a 212 iirc and was unmovable on the price with the 'I'm not in a hurry to sell' attitude. What's worse is that sitting around does a car no favours.

That interior looks just right, I would rather look at that than the gopping insides of any modern Merc, (except maybe that new electric S Class, but even then...)

If anyone is after a mega spec W221 this is the most highly spec'd out S500 I've seen, I think it's every box ticked.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-2008-OBSIDIAN-BLAC...

I'd have to take off the naff Brabus badging and maybe swap out some less tacky wheels, but that is absolute top spec (Fridge, night vision, proper leather, ABC, all the seat options front and rear, it even claims to have the auxilliary parking heater. It's been up for a while so there is almost certainly some negotiating to be done.
Ace spec. The front end is properly peppered with stone chips, and there seem to be nicks all over. Yet another negotiation point, but at that price I'd be expecting more than just tyre shine. It makes the 6k diesel one Mike D found (silver with beige) look a positive bargain (although long gone I'm sure).
Gone, purchased by a part time driveway dealer and last seen at £7500. They seem to be hard to move on.

That seller is JOB, sometimes of this parish.

It looks absolutely minty fresh and Jack’s cars always appeared to be prepared and presented to a high standard. Obviously strong money regardless, more so perhaps because it’s ‘only’ a 260E.

Someone else is going to have to buy the S430 posted previously (https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104081127509?modal=photos).

Just got an insurance quote of £435...!
I don't like to pay over £200 if I can help it.

If only!

I've just insured my S-Type for £500, and my old Golf shed is £380. If I hadn't discovered a really good guy at Keith Michaels, for both, this is still less than I was paying for an X-Type diesel.

Insurance kills me. I'm 31, good postcode and 9 years NCD!

I wonder, what are the thread thoughts on the E10/E5 petrol thing that appears to be in the pipeline, and its implications for continued smoker barging?

I have a 1992 W201 2.0, which I don't imagine will have much of an appetite for ethanol

I'm only a couple of years ahead of you but there is no way I'll pay over £300 PA for anything at all.
I just won't buy whatever it is if i can't get it for less than that.

Angina. I'm mid 40s so very young but seems it runs in the family. I have been waiting months for the NHS to bring me in for a test -

ended up paying for a private CT scan which confirmed a blocked artery. Finally started getting pain at rest so went to A&E and now I am back in the hands of the NHS. Wish I had private medical insurance but now hopefully it will get sorted quickly.
I'm almost a week behind and trying to catch as best I can atm, so I hope all went well. We're almost at the end end a 2 week nightmare after paying for private surgery for the wife and have had exemplary service from the NHS trying to help ( never thought I'd be saying that) it's been shocking to discover how poor the service has been going private.
Also it seems to be the year of hospital administration does it not.
