RE: Land Rover launches new 525hp Defender V8

Back looks great.
Front looks revolting, jelly mould like. Bonnet melting over the headlights.
Interior looks great apart from the iPad. It 100% looks like they've just built the dash with a little shelf for an iPad to rest there, and made an app to show the radio controls. Why the heck couldn't they at least make a microscopic effort to make it look integrated? Or is that it? Is it an actual iPad / Android tablet?

I worry as most recent petrols fitted with OPF's should sound good but frankly most I have heard sound pretty pants and I include that from the most humble to some of the most extreme models.
I do hope it sounds like a V8 should. That being said I love something about this, but cannot see it on the uk market for long given how quickly some of the previous engine changes have been and well the Vi is clearly only for a small niche at least here.

I guess it’s time to forget the old Defender. The new one is clearly aimed at the new money, it’s really a Range Rover with all the bling that just happens to be in the style of the old Defender.
I do love it, but that’s a serious amount of money.
I do worry that JLR are heading in the wrong direction. All these premium priced products will inevitably lead to lower volumes.
It’s a risky time for JLR, Jaguar are effectively nearly dead and planning an electric only future and LR are at the top of the market price wise - I wish them luck, but it’s risky.
The other premium makers MB, Audi BMW make most of their profit on the volume selling cheaper models....

If JLR wants to compete in the G63 bracket I just don’t think this is unique enough, the “wagen” is so imposing, a massive retro box that sounds as angry as it looks with an s class level interior (in finish anyway), this looks great but it’s too ordinary, at least in this factory spec. In this bracket options and customisation are everything so expect most to get some gaudy adjustments...

This is a Defender?
The styling is flashy, the price ludicrous, it's a fundamentally off-trend luxury dinosaur mainly rivalled by products from Jaguar Land-Rover with not even a semblance of a nod to the Defender heritage.
I utterly, completely love it.
Seconded with several nicely knurled knobs on.The styling is flashy, the price ludicrous, it's a fundamentally off-trend luxury dinosaur mainly rivalled by products from Jaguar Land-Rover with not even a semblance of a nod to the Defender heritage.
