Picking up from the 90s....

Modified 944 that I kept until 03.
03 to 05 2003 BMW 320i
05 to 09 2005 BMW 320d
09 to end of decade 2009 BMW 120d

That was it. A dull decade of driving company cars with no fun, but equally no stress and no financial hassle.

Passed my test in January 2001....

G reg Vauxhall Nova was the car I passed in. Absolute shed.
S reg Fiat Punto replaced the Nova.

Went to uni, so had a break from car use / ownership for three years.

Had use of my nan’s Golf Mk3 for a bit in the summer of 2004.
My sister decided to work abroad for Mark Warner so I then ended up with her Fiat Cinquecento Sporting (nicknamed the crumple zone due to the bumps she’d had in it).

2005 my aunt bought my sister and I a new Clio 1.4 Extreme (we had a family friend who worked for Renault and my uncle had recently passed away).

May 2006, not long started my first proper job and I changed the Clio for a 2004 MINI Cooper

January 2007 rush of blood, new job with a big pay rise an I swapped the Cooper for a Cooper S

August 2007 decided to retrain as a surveyor so needed a cheaper / more economical car so swapped the Cooper S for a One and hated it.

July 2008 decent pay rise, bought an E46 325ti

Which saw me through to joining the company car scheme in 201a

I lived near an independent car auction and my commute took me near it. So I'd drop in most Monday and Wednesday sale nights. Mrs PB got used to me arriving home late, in a different car, and having to run me back there to get the one I'd left home in that morning!

So, hard to say what I drove in the noughties definitively as I've definitely forgotten some. But, from memory;

205 Roland Garros
Mk2 Golf GTI 8v
405 GRDT bought from said auction
Mk5 Fiesta 1.4 company car

Now the auction fever really kicks in! In no particular order;

ZX 1.9d
Clios (had a 1.2 and a diesel)
106 1.5 diesels (both pre- and post-facelift)
306 Dturbo
Renault Laguna estate
Mk3 Astras (had a hatch and an estate)
Mk4 Fiestas (had a 1.25 and a 1.8d)
626 1.8 petrol saloon
Rover 620Ti

Mrs PB gets her way and we get into a Eunos V-Spec on eBay. But it's crap so we p/x it for a better one at a dealer.

156 1.8TS

Daughter's arrival imminent, so Mrs PB declares the 156 needs to be moved on and a Bora 2.0 replaces it.

I can't stand the sensible Clio 1.2 I've bought to replace the Eunos, so I get into a Mk3 Golf GTI 8v and declare it my last car for a while . . . a few months later I find myself at the auction and a Mk3 VR6 is going under the rostrum. At least it made my 9 month old daughter giggle!

New commute requires fuel efficiency, so a 206 Dturbo replaces the VR6. The earlier 2.0 HDi version so it was a good fun little thing tbf.

Youngest arrives so Bora gets replaced with a Mazda6 diesel estate.

That just about sees the decade out. Hopefully the NC MX5 2.0 I bought in 2013 saves my PH bacon in the next thread!
