I agree, it is simply fugly and outrageous.
Typical of many of the badge snobs in here. You get Porcsche or the German marques make anything and they have a wet dream over it. If this had been Honda they would come out with their usual outdated dinosaur recycled comments such as chav, halfords etc.
You must have missed the recent m3 launch then. Anyway calling fantasy chav comments recycled is a bit rich considering you only just posted the same "badge snob" comments on the Audi thread. Cry for attention comrade?
It's his standard response on pretty much every thread he visits Needs some new material..

But you can? Thats what the Taycan Sport Turismo is. If you want your car to be a bit more off road styled you have the Cross Turismo.

Doesn't appear to be a definite that the SportTurismo will ever exist according to the VP for Taycan production.

Lot's of use of the word 'could' in there? I hope you are right though.

Everyone when they see a saloon Taycan - "boring"

Everyone when they see a Taycan estate - "wow, love it, I want one!"

It's crazy how much better looking 90% of cars are in estate form rather than saloon!

Me too, like the look of it and also ticks a lot of boxes. I’ve got a test drive booked for when dealerships open up again.

No sure that’s right. This is the Cross Turismo. There isn’t a Sport Turismo - that’s a Panamera. Unless, that’s what you meant?

So much money for so little range.

I've just had a look at the Porsche UK configurator.

A Cross Turismo Turbo S lists at 140k for a black or white one.

Everything I'd expect a car that costs about 50k to have is an extra, literally EVERYTHING.

Electric folding door mirrors = 210 quid
HUD = a grand
Park Assist with a reverse camera = a grand!
ACC = 1200 quid

Most people don’t need much range - average mileage of 10k per year (do the maths) - but they don’t want to be sat in an interior that looks to have been hastily constructed by shopfitters, from sundry bits of left overs plastic packaging, plus an iPad.

The other thing this makes me think about, is that since Porsche already makes plenty of off-roady 4x4s... why aren't you given the option to add the same kind of "added crap" to protect the paintwork on those? To me that omission makes this (otherwise lovely looking - i.e. the Sport Turismo) estate a bit of a fashion statement alone.

So this new Taycan would maybe replace someones current dd?

For fun a GL 63 cost new with fully loaded spec £113k.

Servicing costs at MB over 7 years £3500

Faults zero but extended warranty £1000 per year since 2017 so £4000

48,000 miles covered at circa 15mpg

Insurance £800 per year

Bought new in 2014.

Can someone explain to me how this Taycan's REAL carbon footprint is less than say our GL63? I bet if we do the numbers including the cost of building factory to make Taycan. Disposal of batteries at end of life that the Taycan has the bigger carbon foot print. Also these cars will be bought on PCP, lease hire and thrown away after 2-3 years by owners.

You can buy a GL63 with 35,000 miles for £35k. How much is the Taycan?

World upside down when you can make a case for a 600bhp bi turbo AMG SUV having a smaller carbon footprint than the Taycan. I rest my case milord. I do love the new electric cars especially new Audi. Simply can't get my head round the the value proposition. Perhaps when battery consistency and range improves who knows I'll swap. For now a nascar engine in a SUV fine smile

It's pure marketing BS. If 1 in 1000 of these goes anywhere near off road I'd be amazed. The real benefit of the new model is the hatchback access and additional rear headroom over the saloon and I think they've added all the tat to differentiate it as they know without it the saloon will barely sell. Tesla are going to have exactly the same problem when the Y launches, it'll decimate 3 sales.

One thing I do find interesting having played with the configurator, the CT 4S appears to come with the larger battery as standard. That's a £4k option so essentially there is no price difference between the saloon and CT models?

There are plenty of us rural types who do use their cars off road and/or live places that are well off the beaten track of the gritters and snow ploughs. You don't need a proper 4x4 at all, just something with a bit of extra ground clearance and some decent winter tyres. 4 wheel drive is a bonus, but speaking to those with 2wd Teslas a necessity.

My VW T6 van goes everywhere I need it to and as I see it, there's no reason why this Cross Tursimo couldn't do the same. I don;t want or need a 4x4, but I can't live without a bit of offroad ruggedness. Bizarely, the worst places I've used a vehicle in last 8 years was not up the hill I live on in the snow, or off road on forest tracks to get to a downhill mtb event, but on flat, wet muddy grass at trade exhibitions (inevitably rainy in UK) where stuff was getting stuck everywhere and tractors were towing people out.

I'm sure you are willing to agree you are in the minority though? Even without the optional off road package the car comes with the naff gloss wheel arch protectors and silver exterior trim pieces that look cheap and nasty on a £100k car.

Anybody buying an estate for £80-100k will be in the minority. Same as those buying a 911 or any other Porsche...
This is no different to an Audi All-road... if you're happy with the sedan or estate, great.

If you want a tiny bit more capability because you've got speed bumps in your road, or you go fishing where you need to drive the last 200 metres on a rutted track, or you want to not worry about scraping the bottom of your car when parking in a field at a show or festival, then this just gives you that little bit of capability, without having to go full on cross-over or SUV.

P.S. the GLOSS wheel arch covers are only on the Turbo S - they're grained plastic on all the other models smile

I paid a deposit on one when i picked up my Taycan in October and informed today i should get of the first couple my OPC gets. Really looking forward to it as it should drive as well as my existing Taycan with the added benefit of much improved packaging and off road ability. It would suit you down to the ground plus the tax benefits.
Agreed with bold bit. I'd have an I-Pace in the bat of an eyelid TBF if Mrs Digga didn't already have one. Seems daft having his n hers matchy, matchy cars. Anyway, with her help, I managed to spec something tasteful on configurator, so we'll see...

Very tempted, largely because of the tax regime.
