As quite a few sides of life remain pretty depressing in the UK, one positive about this time of year is getting the summer cars out of hibernation and hopefully a sign that spring is nearly upon us!

So time to revive the thread!

I dropped the Corvette off for service and MOT this morning, ready to be taxed from Saturday. Of course, nothing is simple at the moment so of course it's raining and filthy, so even my 5 mins drive has immediately undone the good work I did before putting it under the cover.

Looking forward to putting some miles on this year, including 5 days family boy's trip to the Loire Valley in July

I haven't driven my summer car since October the 11th last year, so I'm definitely missing it loads. However I had originally planned to get it back out on the road on the 1st of April, but because the weather is currently a bit hit and miss...I'm going to wait until the 1st of May now instead. I can't wait to get back in it. driving

Not yet, need to be sure all the salt / grit has been washed away from the roads.

Saw a few people recently that took their cars from storage only to return back on gritted roads - made me wince.

Saw a stunning Lotus Europa Special (Twin Cam) circa mid 70s vintage. A car I always coveted.

Unfortunately the car was stacked into somebodies front wall also missing off a rear offside rear wheel. Possibly the loss of the rear wheel caused the crash.

Fortunately nobody hurt but the owner did not look a happy chap. The car has a chassis so probably rebuildable at a cost.

Not sure when I'll actually go for a drive in mine as I also want to avoid the st weather, just hoping that April turns things around sooner rather than later.

This has always been taxed under my ownership (8.5 years) and it's now free and doesn't need an MOT, but it will be done when I'm sure the salt has buggered off for good.

I miss driving him and have a friends wedding on June 3rd which I am driving her to, then a car show the next day, so I want to make sure I do everything I can to ensure no issues on the big day.

Got it back from the MOT earlier......I did just over 300 miles in it in the last 12 months.

That's criminal.

The correct wheels are currently in getting refurbished... New, non-perished tyres on order. Determined to also do more than c. 300 miles in it this year (and safely!!). Ideally by driving it for most of the summer.

I got mine out of hibernation to do some insurance photos a couple of weeks ago ... she's back undercover now waiting for the sun to arrive.

I’ve never been a fan of these, but I’ve seen photos of yours before and it’s changing my mind. A lovely example, well setup. Same year as my classic too!

Getting the summer car out? Have you seen the weather out there? Sadly, mine has been out three times since September when I bought it. The weather is driving me insane.

Bought last May and insured on a classic policy limited to 4000 miles a year which I thought might be a bit tight... and yet here we are, almost 11 months on and it's done 182 miles and 110 of that was one trip. My wife thinks it being here is just expensive, takes up space that other things could inhabit and it just causes me grief. Ironic. Though given it can't see it's usage changing, maybe it is time to get rid. Enter "The car may have to go too" 2 cliche here.

Took my TR6 out on Monday evening. Seems to have a bit of a misfire when it gets warm and in the lower rev range. Maybe just needs an Italian tune!

My little Mini is also due to peek out of it's hidey hole in the next few weeks. It's not been on the road since the pandemic.

I started it up the other day and, well, my fault, but two years of being stood still hasn't done the belt driven bits any good. It's resisting somewhere, so I'll need to piss about with the tensioners and replace the belt as it got very hot and smelly whilst it was squealing for half a minute or so.

Replaced the fking belt just before I put it away. Grrr, cars.
