Mine was in for it's mot on Saturday, I'm embarrassed to say it only drove 4 miles since the last mot.

Within 24 hours of passing it's mot it's decided that I need to buy a new alternator.

I shall tax mine (a Boxster) from April 1st.

Loving the variety of stuff posted on this thread. The sort of cars I rarely see (never in the case of an Alfa Romeo RZ), but make me smile when I do.

Re the last post - I love a Mk1 MR2 - any pictures from less than 50m away?! I don’t do many miles in my car, but 4 seems a crying shame.

Ready for spring!

Yep, roll on summer.

Just had the carbs re-jetted, new engine pulling well through the rev range now.

Lol, I know it wasn't the best pic I've ever taken of her, it was an afterthought as I was on my way to get breakfast.

Happy now?

Getting the summer car out? Have you seen the weather out there? Sadly, mine has been out three times since September when I bought it. The weather is driving me insane.

yes
My car is taxed all year round and I would expect at least once a month there would be some dry and unsalted roads to have a weekend drive on. But this winter... Either crap weather or other commitments. Only 2 drives since last November and one of those was last weekend.

Managed to sneak out for 2 hours good weather at the weekend for first time since October, and solved the stale fuel problem by going through 3/4 tank in 80 miles hehe

Now blowing a gale so back in the garage until probably May at this rate.

As quite a few sides of life remain pretty depressing in the UK, one positive about this time of year is getting the summer cars out of hibernation and hopefully a sign that spring is nearly upon us!

So time to revive the thread!

I dropped the Corvette off for service and MOT this morning, ready to be taxed from Saturday. Of course, nothing is simple at the moment so of course it's raining and filthy, so even my 5 mins drive has immediately undone the good work I did before putting it under the cover.

Looking forward to putting some miles on this year, including 5 days family boy's trip to the Loire Valley in July

Thats a lovely beast.

Got a decent run with my Summer car at the weekend with a trip to the Lakes. Only the 2nd time I’ve driven it actually.

That's a great colour, hardly ever see it.

Mine came out a couple of weeks ago after a two year lay up, and promptly spat it's dummy out by sprouting a leak in the rad! laugh

I've got an S2000 which needs a service and whilst the tyres have done minimal mileage they've aged out now.

So I guess i'll be doing it a service, followed by smoking a set of tyres and converting fuel into smiles.

Very excited even typing this. Time to celebrate the vehicle.

One of the downsides of living in London. At least in the sticks you can jump in the car and hit the b-roads within minutes when the roads are dry. In town it takes an hour sometimes just to get clear of the traffic. At the moment it’s hard to commit to a drive as the weather’s so unpredictable. As you say, in previous winters there’s always been a day here and there when you knew the roads would be dry and clear of salt. Maybe Mr Khan’s controlling the weather too!

Yep! Very early weekend mornings are pretty much the only time I go so that roads are quiet and getting out of town takes a fraction of the time.

I had a Caterham a couple of years ago and scooting through town at sunrise, roof off, on the way to some good driving roads is a great feeling. thumbup With earplugs ready to put in for the dual carriageway bit hehe

A pertinent post for those who only tax their cars through the summer months.

If you’re planning on taxing your car in April, do it TODAY (31st March)!

The RFL rate rises by approximately 10% depending on banding tomorrow - you can avoid this by taxing the car today, but are still able to start the taxation from tomorrow (1st April).

As a side note - cars previously in Band A (so £0) such as my daily drive (a Citroen C1) move to Band B, and are liable for charge, from 2025. frown
