Getting caught when enjoying the upper reaches of my speedo!

Nothing else bothers me, it is nearly all within my gift to prevent and if the unthinkable happens and a lorry manages to blow out and force me off a bridge or some other horrendous event it is so statistically low that it's not worth thinking about.

Flying I worry about, mainly because I don't do it enough to normalise it.
Cycling I worry about because I am actually quite likely to be squished.

Fair enough dude but you do realise that flying has such a low probability of getting into a bad situation

Another road user pulling out of a junction without looking and me T boning them and seriously injuring them through no fault of my own.

Yes 100% agree with this one ... someone pulling out at a cross road and then slamming into them

I do, but you are miles up in a paraffin budgie driven by someone else. The brain does funny things.

Killing or seriously injuring someone. Especially if I'm doing something arguably unnecessary like an overtake at the time.

Speed traps.

Been caught twice in the last 10-12 years. Once in an NSL in the middle of nowhere and another in 50 zone that was NSL the last time I was down it.

Nothing to do with safety, everything to do with revenue generation.

Norhing scares me about driving. Cycling and riding motorbikes I expect I'll be wiped out at some point.

Target fixation on the motorbike when I've gone into a corner a bit too hot or a bend tightens up on me unexpectedly, wouldn't fancy a head on with another vehicle, especially if it was my fault.

Getting wiped out by another car overtaking on a blind corner. I've seen a couple of really stupid overtakes on blind corners over the years and although it's not that common, it's something that pops into my head fairly often on winding roads.

Driving at speed at not being able to stop in time.

In fact it's the only nightmare I have. I used to drive the 4hrs to my parents' house on a Friday night after work, arriving there at 11pm. I would then go straight to bed and I'd have such a restless night, waking up because I'd be dreaming that I was driving on the motorway and not being able to brake in time for a stopped vehicle. I learned to stay up for an hour or so to wind down but now I just get up early on a Saturday morning and do the journey then.

There has been one time where I woke up bolt upright having this nightmare just before I "crashed" into car in front. I thought that kind of thing only happened in films.

Not too long ago someone posted the dashcam of them being hit head on by an overtaking Passat. It was a sobering reminder that it doesn't matter how good a driver you are, some accidents you will never avoid.

I met a bloke recently. When he was young and silly he was doing 65 in a 30 very late at night / early morning, silly set of events and he killed 2 people, he got 9 years. It is scary how being young and dumb could ruin your life and others...I used to drive like a complete tool aged 18.

I’m just quoting this, so I have it for future reference.

Getting done for speeding. As someone who likes to press on it’s an annoying fear. I suspect it wouldn’t be as bad as my anxiety says, and I’ve been done before and it wasn’t that bad. But it’s always in my mind, which really annoys me.

Oh, and my engine grenading on me. I drive a 911 and Boxster and I’ve read too many horror stories.
