IMHO it seems that in a quest to get such a slippery shape and low drag coefficient that they have thrown all the contemporary MB styling cues out of the window. Take the badges off and I wouldn’t know whose car that was - literally could stick KIA / Dodge / or any number of other manufacturers symbols on it and I’d be none the wiser.

I honestly think with all the incoming EV’s being so bland I’m going to have to get me a real looker from the 70’s or 80’s and get it electric converted.

Cue backlash spin

Its amazing now that the hand has been well and truly forced on the big boys that they are coming forward with decent electric cars. All this is going to filter down over the years what we see now will be the norm in bread and butter saloons in a few years.

good times ahead. good times indeed.
Expensive times ahead by the looks of things

The EQS is designed to exceed the expectations of even our most demanding customers. That's exactly what a Mercedes has to do to earn the letter 'S' in its name. Because we don't award that letter lightly." explained Ola Källenius, CEO of Daimler and Mercedes-Benz. Those demanding customers won't have long to wait, either, with the EQS expected on UK roads in the summer.

Must have missed that memo when I was given an A180 SE as a courtesy car some years ago. I thought it stood for something else...

“ As should eight CPU cores, 24GB RAM and 46.4GB per second RAM memory bandwidth.” Yawn...

They've managed to make a Mercedes look a like a Prius. Good effort.

Not keen on the looks but that range will finally shut up those morons who say they drove lands end to John o groats without stopping on a regular basis.

I'm pretty sure the Taycan can charge at 270kWh.
It looks like the Taycan is 270kW at 800V or 150kW at 400V. I'm not sure if the article has missed out a like for like caveat but it does seem a bit misleading as written.

2600KG? That's 650KG more than the current S500 4-matic. eek
I just want to highlight this again. 478 miles is a lot of range, i just don't see how carrying a 700(?)kg battery around all day is a step in the right direction.

Would make a truly incredible airport taxi for the super rich, I can't imagine it's going to be much cheaper than £100k in any format. Let's see what the UK pricing is.
Carwow said the model range starts at 80k to 100k plus options.

I thought, insert inflatable driver here, like the pilot in Airplane, it looks like a taxi from the near future, a great place to spend an 18 hour day, but not a car I'd buy to drive myself. Maybe one for the wife and kids but too big, much the same can be said for the current LWB S-Class though finding an SWB in the UK is hard, at least on PH. I'm confused by this car, but if you want to stand out from the crowd, I guess that it is a good thing.

Challenging commute. Regardless of power source my wife will still need to pee as frequently.

Yet another awkward looking EV. This time with a ridiculous paint job.

That said, will somebody please think of the cobalt-mining children.

Never! If you can’t see it it doesn’t happen! I’m all for 2.6 ton electric monsters that you lease for 3 years and dispose of like a torn pair of pants. Clean air and all that..... plus think of the tax savings eh eh- not so keen on that African child now are you?!

Christ, and we’re talking about a cars RAM and CPU speed- what has happened to us!

You can certainly see why the launch colour was the two tone to make it look more like a saloon car.

The single colour one makes it looked like they have just stretched an A class.
