Seen these advertised on eBay when looking for BMW LL04 oil

They seem a legit British company: https://www.westwayoils.co.uk/

They do a 5W 30 oil that meets BMW LL04 specification.

Anyone know anything about them or used them before?

Viable alternative to the usual big brands?

TIA smile

I used them for the gearbox oil for my Saab 9-5 auto.
Oil looked the same as new OE stuff and gearshift improved compared to the old oil that was in there.

As long as it meets the specs, Smith and Allan is another I’ve seen but not really used, not part of these are they?

Shame. No 5w40 spec. It does seem quite cheap though.... not sure if that’s good or bad.

Wasn't sure whether the big brands have other fancy 'additives' etc.

As Belle427 says, meets the spec so must be decent enough.

My x-trail has half a bottle in the boot from when I picked it up and a few receipts going back a couple years, so I can only assume its not bork'd the engine yet - I have drained it off now tho as I serviced it at Easter with some stuff from Opie Oils... the price looks good on the website though, I might get some come her next service

I've used them for a few years now.

I get all my car and bike oil.
Brake fluid
Motorcycle fork fluid
Jeep diff/Gearbox fluid

Never had any issues, never had anything fail or blow up.

I've used Westway a few times (mainly transmission fluid) and had no issues.

Thanks for feedback chaps. smile

It's tempting as notably cheaper than the standard brands.

At the mo, using Elf Sporti 9 (bought 3x 20L so working through that but the X5 needs 8.5L for every change!).
