Recommendations: Pembroke to the Severn Crossing??

Sadly our holiday in Pembrokeshire has come to an end and time for the 5 hours drive home tomorrow.
Staying near Pembroke, and by the time I get into England I'll be ready to just sit on the motorway I reckon, but I'm looking for some good driving roads between here and the Severn Crossing.
I've done a lot of driving in the Brecon Beacons. My go to route is to head there and do a pass over Black Mountain because it would be rude not to, then grab the A465 and the A40 to Monmouth and cut down through Wye Valley on the A466.
I'm sure theres a better route however. Does anyone have any suggestions?
