Am currently sat in the car park whilst wife picks up a few bits and pieces.

The lack of respect and consideration around me for other people's cars is staggering. Someone has just parked so close to me that it would be impossible for him to open his door without bashing me, fortunately he saw me in the car as he went to open it and has now moved to another spot.

And in true PH tradition I'm parked miles away from anyone else at the edge of the plot

Geez, I don't come here often as we usually get groceries delivered but at least when you're in the store ignorance is bliss

Cheers

This is one of the benefits of driving an old banger. If someone deliberately swings their door into the side of your car, you can always return the favour by cutting the corner as you leave scuffing their bumper! Apparently.

I've done that - sat in car and waited for wife - the thing that amazed me is how many people are in and out in 10 mins, so the cars around me changed multiple times which obviously means multiple opportunities to damage the car.

Wife was "just popping in" and was gone for 30mins. Normally she'd be there over an hour. When she goes to the out-of-town place she's there for the day. Her car (which she got new) is covered in parking dents and bumper scuffs.

I've just bought what was supposed to be a shed with tons of space for supermarket trips and general errand running in order to save my Porsche for fun trips. The only problem is that my new shed is far too nice and if it got any parking dings I'd be totally gutted. Oh well, I might have to buy another car for shedding duties!

Yup! It’s absolutely terrifying. I’ve once had a bit of a scummy woman give me abuse about my ‘precious’ car when I was sat in an Asda car park waiting on my Mum. I think she thought I was so worried about the car I hadn’t left it when it was actually that I don’t like Asda and had no need to go in. I just ignored the scrote.

I took the i8 out on Wednesday and it was almost hit several times in locations I was parked as it seemed that people were too busy looking at it that they got so close and nearly fecking hit it! Even Waitrose where I was parked miles from anything.

I’ve got a L320 which I call the tank and I find that nobody wants to park anywhere near it. The 595, 997, i8 or M4 however attract people parking right next to them even when you’re miles away. The only supermarket I never have an issue with parking is Aldi as everyone seems to want to be as close to the door as possible.

The way around this is:

1. Have children - you can then park in the 'family' spaces with loads of room.
2. EV/Hybrid - then you can park in the big EV space, which are sometimes near the door

What big ev space?
Don't know a single supermarket with a electric car space around here

Only know of two charging points in my entire town (approx 56k people)
One at a local shopping centre and one in the town centre

Awesome - love these.

Sheds only work if you genuinely don't give a st about them. Of course it will still impact any residual value when it is smashed to pieces.

Loads round here, the local Tesco has free ones which is a nice touch. They've also got a petrol station but never give me free petrol.

Supermarket car parks are shocking. I've always been wary but some years back I sat in the other half's car just people watching whilst she was in Tesco. As per the first post, people are inconsiderate, careless and have no respect for other people's property.

I avoid parking in them at all costs and we use click and collect now.

It’s shocking, people just don’t care.

Which is why ‘Little Truck’ goes shopping …

I still obviously don’t want anything to happen to it, but it has a few marks (already on it when I got it) and although I’ll try and not park next to anything with chips on the door edge or child seats in, I’m happy to usually leave it in the first space I find. Have to say I was tempted to put running boards on it so anyone who did try would come off worse …

On the other hand, this doesn’t get parked anywhere it can get bashed, I’ll only maybe take it shopping late at night just before closing when nobody else is likely to turn up, even then it gets parked in the far corner.

Places like Tesco and Asda are full or morons - avoid at all costs.

You save a few quid on your apples but get a nice dent in your car.

Supermarket car parks just seem to be a hot bed of stressed, impatient and inconsiderate people so it's little wonder there's damage done. Having kids can help until some rocket chooses to give you a mouthful of abuse for parking in the parent and child bays... had barely turned the car off and she was shouting abuse as she passed. Evidently hadn't noted the 2yr old in his seat in the back but pretty much sums up the demographic.

Taken to shopping out of hours when i know the car park will be half empty and almost always get the same nice big space, well out of the way of the 'park as near to the door as possible even if there's not enough room' brigade. Most people are lazy, easy to take advantage of that.

We had someone force a trolley down the side of my wife's car, leaving deep gouges along her car & neighbour car.

Went to tescos manager who promptly fobbed me off (politely) saying we were about the 6th people that MORNING to come in asking for cctv for the car park. Chap before came back to find his bump pushed under his car (ie it had been ripped off & someone had tucked it under his car to get it out of the car of others)

He explained this is why the store have no access to the cctv, otherwise it'd be a full time team needed to keep up with the demands for copies of it.

It's the same in service stations. I find a spot where there are several spaces free but still an SUV then pulls up and parks next to me.

I'm already out of the car but I stand there and wait to make sure there is no damage as he is parked so close to me.

Child one gets out and smashes the door against my car and runs to the toilet. Child two gets out and smashes the door against my car and runs off.

Parent notices me standing there so tells the third child to watch my door. He ignores and smashes the door against my car. Parent stands there saying "sorry but what can you do".

It's just not worth the agro, which is why I drive a shed.

Edit: oh and just to add, there was no car parked next to that car on the other side, so they could have all gotten out the otherside freely.

This is what Ocado was invented for...would rather spend the extra and avoid this nonsense

If I have to pick up more bits go to M&S (which is never that busy most people have nice cars) or local butcher

I had a discovery with tree bars on
a scummy mummy complained when her little st bent her door on my "armour" as she called it,
little darling gave it such a bang it folded the bottom inch of her door.

somehow it was my fault..

Online shopping is the answer! I get a big order delivered when wfh then just get meat from the local butcher and odds and ends from the local shop if required.
