I'm feeling quite lonely being the only LS400 new owner

Mine is all booked in for a cambelt change, full service and a thorough check over next week at Lexus in Cheltenham

Really enjoying wafting about in such a refined manner

I’d be interested to know the estimate for the cambelt element of the work. I’ve been quoted £750 plus vat in a 430 and that was at a specialist indie albeit using genuine parts (inc water pump). Seems a bit rich to me, but maybe I’m just mean…

Mine, on my 400, was £660ish at the start of the year. Specialist quoted £970ish.

Relax old fruit. I've cleared H6 to H20, just for you*.

* friendly word of warning though, your wife is googling local divorce solicitors. Soz, but I just know this shizzle.
You are a gentleman, sir. I thank you for your thoughtful reservation of PH names and for the sage advice.

I love these. It looks like it needs engine mounts straight away, the engine is slighly on the piss (my S600 was the same). They are one of those things I quite like to swap on any leggy car though, it makes such a difference.

I'm not defending the price for a leggy E class, or the oil burning-ness, but a proper colour scheme really transforms even the W212 from a drab uber to an expensive looking car doesn't it?

A massive improvement over the usual taxi-spec aesthetic.

Good work on the numbers tobinen.

I've got an insurance question for you all.

My E55 insurance is due and I'm wondering if I can get, or even if it's worth getting a proper muticar policy, now I've got two cars?

I think my 320cdi is with Lancaster on some MB club discount, my E55 is with DL.

A lot of companies are doing something like direct line, where they'll insure your second car, but not on a like for like basis, they'll just give you a discount on there second car, but you can't use your NCB.

Also has anyone ever used esure or Sheila's wheels for their insurance? On a comparison site they're nearly £200 cheaper than what I've been quoted by anyone else...it's pretty much half what my renewal quote was. I've always believed is it's too good/cheap to be true, then there must be a catch?!

If our friend who bought the Mercedes R-Class is still lurking, can I ask for an update on how it's going please?

Mrs Jim's 200,000 mile E320 CDi has finally been abandoned, so I think we're heading that way for the next family Mystery Machine.

I think £6 is a not reasonable price for any Mercedes with that M137 engine, I'd try and haggle them down to £5...

Oh. That's for a raffle ticket to win it. I'd sooner pay £6 to be sure nobody gave me one for free.

I quite like this

Including this gem in the description “ Air Suspension for a Soreen Driving Experience”

Surely the ride will be a bit stodgy?

scratchchin Send me £6, if I win I promise not to give it to you and if /when it fails, you can have the satisfaction of not having to deal with it.
thumbup ?

I could do with another Mercedes not to drive.

Would also be interested in experiences, as an R is sort of at the back of my mind for replacing our S-Max, at some point.

I think if you're handy with the spanners and have another car to use when it's out of service running a C215 V8 need not be ruinous. There are rebuild kits for the ABC valve blocks, a hydraulic shop can make up ABC lines that fail, rebuild options on the struts, the engine and gearbox are bullet proof, and many faults can be overlooked or fixed at your leisure.

So it's fine if you value your time at zero.
