If that's a small convertible what is an MX5?
A slightly smaller small convertible. What am I missing? I realise that an SC isn't exactly an Elise, but I can't think what else you'd call it?
?

I just googled it out of interest and an SC is longer than a Mercedes SL, both are longer than my Volvo C70 which was a genuine four seater. Price you pay for a proper engine and drivetrain layout I suppose.
That solid roof mandates a high, long rear deck, a short cabin, and an almost-over-your-head giant windscreen. It ain't got no alibi, it ugly.

I quick google suggests that the wheelbase is a little shorter but other dimensions are very comparable to an E90 3 series which, to my mind, makes it very much mid sized

My original comment wasn't intended to be specific about the dimensions of the SC, rather to remark that 191,000 miles is a pretty good effort in any 2-owner car, let alone a
Now, stop bullying me. bds.
We got back from a week in Devon yesterday, where the new (to me) S210 ran virtually faultlessly....even the air con worked!
And even more surprisingly, even HQ was impressed with it. Although rather idiotically she suggested if this car works so well, why would I need the E55....
Nearly 600 miles all in, and it averaged over 60mph and 40mpg. Which, with a roof box and bikes on the back and fairly loaded, I'm very happy with.
There's something a bit rattly/tired/loose on the front suspension somewhere but you only notice it on rutted roads and there's a bit of wobble in the steering wheel at erm higher cruising speeds.
Other than than a decent drive and holiday....I felt sorry for the poor buggers going south on the M5 yesterday. It looked like it was going to be a long day for them.

I too was slightly vexed at the assertion that an SC430 would be classed as a small convertible.

I’m quite sure the participants of this parish, pay little attention to the ramblings of Top Gear. However, Top Gear's Worst Car in the History of the World, May and Clarkson, voted the Lexus SC 430 'worst car in the history of the world'. James May tells that the power produced by the engine is half of what the car needs, and the wooden styling makes the car extremely heavy and very ugly. Clarkson implies, that the only people who would buy this car were elderly rich Americans.
Can't say I think it's much of a looker either, which is strange when you consider some of the marques other output.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it, or the seller, tbh. Silver with black alloys and a black interior is an unappealing aesthetic combo for me whilst the 'I'm an enthusiast' plus 'the errors don't bother me' plus the 'don't really need to sell' narrative is a little unconvincing, certainly with the lurid descriptions of the car as 'The Beast'. It has had the rear mufflers removed, which is interpreted as a growl but from personal experience is a deeply unappealing drone within the cabin at motorway cruising speeds, coupled with a loss in power.
EDIT: I wonder whether the seller will pop up as per the ML63 a few months ago and give mescorn the benefit of his feedback.
Interesting all those wires dangling in the pic of the open tailgate.I'm not quite sure what to make of it, or the seller, tbh. Rather idiotically, I am thinking that the E55 must be surplus to requirements if this has already assumed family duties..?And even more surprisingly, even HQ was impressed with it. Although rather idiotically she suggested if this car works so well, why would I need the E55....

Must admit I love the idea of a big estate car. I'll probably get one next, or an SUV, when I replace the LS460, whenever that may be!And even more surprisingly, even HQ was impressed with it. Although rather idiotically she suggested if this car works so well, why would I need the E55....

It's not exactly in thread, but having not replaced my L405, I am half mulling over buying my mate's SWB XJR. Silver and black, 77k, 2014, he wants 25 for it. Which seems a lot, but everything is these days. It makes a fabulous noise...
Lovely, I do like that era of XJ and the -R must be impressive.A couple of colleagues had a Supersport for a few days when we were doing the audio for them and I'll never forget the look on their faces when they got out after a long journey, sheer joy. Less so when they discussed the fuel economy though.... Unfortunately I only got a lowly RR Evoque diesel as part of the Meridian loan deal.
