A fine looking E32. Just a shame about the aftermarket parking sensors.

Less than half thread max gets a lot of US utility:

Zoom in and you can find the Duchess of Cambridge on the Willoughby Scale. Around 0.35, between the E28 M535i and Twiglets. Gusting 0.38 if it’s summer and she’s on a windy airfield.
I don't think she's on the scale unless you add an extra zero 0.035 tbh

Corr, The Duchess down at .35 - tough crowd. Admittedly, a dame in her position ought to exude that trait so dear to Thread, that of “class” so I can see that opinion may vary here.

Another thread-defining characteristic is that of “Ride Quality” where those opposing principles of ‘tautness’ and ‘suppleness’ must make unlikely bedfellows. I therefore present the “1990’s Kylie Minogue Scale” as the de facto scale for Ride Quality measurement (the units for which which I gather correlate closely with the Willoughby and Derham scales)

It would seem Geralding is ambivalent to marque; these AC Schnitzer badges and accompanying chrome numberplate bezels were spotted on not just a 218d, but a 218d Active Tourer no less.

Do you have a more controlled ride - My memory of kylie was she was a little on the bouncy side with very little damping

Years of Germanic cars mean I am tuned to a slightly over sprung ride with a slight miss match on damping

I would have thought the ride quality measurement would have been based on a more "suitably endowed" scale, to demonstrate a lack of wobblage or jiggely discomfort, with easily observable appendages demonstrating the waftness of otherwise as you go over a speed bump.

As true as all of that might be, the scale is still of desirability, and the Dawn French scales simply doesn’t cut it.

I’ve been away for a weeks proper barging, and thread has motored away to nearly 50 unread pages.

What did I miss?

PS Kennet and Avon barging.

I'd suggest that would be a very suitable scale for the way US cars of the past used to ride. Also, some of us enjoy that particular sort of waterbed-esque experience cloud9

Anyway, back to cars.

All running smoothly after the brake calliper replacement, new battery, a clean and some fuel.

Lovely. Mine’s about to go in for a few minor things, then I think I’m going to be cheeky and try putting it up for sale for 3x what I paid for it. It’s been great so far but I think it’ll struggle with the road to our new house.

My wife has lost nearly half her hours at work, meaning I have to (gladly of course) pitch in a lot more now. It was perhaps not the best time to purchase my X350

Barge incoming…. A relatively early start for a Saturday and the sat nav set for the north west. Sadly no one way train ticket or Costa shenanigans but the obligatory forecourt shot very soon. Hopefully meets thread approval 🙂
