All this Pussy talk and it's not Friday yet. Funnily enough, in moment of weakness I agreed that we could have one of the kittens my in-laws had bred and we now have a new edition to the family. A fking expensive pedigree Maine Coon - luckily she was gratis, otherwise we would still be pet free.

Rough looking W-Reg blue GS300 Sport with a year's MoT and service history stamps up for auction later today:

Guide price 700-1000.

Sounds about right, so why is it at an auction and not just in the free ads?!??! I find the current trend to try and auction any old pile of ste seemingly “just in case” really quite laughable.
They've auctioned it so they don't have to deal with buyers? They'll get their money with just having to deal with the auctioneer?

Some of the other stuff they're auctioning seems pretty poor.

They're also auctioning a W124 260E that had some welding at the back a few years ago.

The idea of spending my life pissing about insisting that your ridiculous coin is legal tender and waiting for the manager, all to save a couple of quid sounds pretty miserable to me. Coin collector my arse.

I have been looking at the Bornite 300 E but really, it is silly money, is it not? That kind of money buys a much more competent car, surely? Like Mr W201_190e, I wouldn't mind a nice w124 saloon but there is nowt out there at sensible prices. I keep pestering Oa about his smoke silver E320 but he is hoarding all the good cars for himself. The problem I really have with 124s is they are not that fast and I quite like going fast. Nor are they so very refined, and as I get older I find the long journeys which I enjoy so much are taking much more of a toll on me.

Why oh why did I ever sell the E430? Surely it would have been more sensible to fix the rust and enjoy it.
Hello darkness, my old friend

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1129685

Gold E430 for mid(ish) thread money.
“- Sill covers removed, any surface rust treated, corroded area at end nearside sill and under washer bottle welded and rust proofed, rest of sills, jacking points, front spring perches and rear subframe mounts (notorious W210 problem areas) were OK, rust proofed and treated with Dynax wax.

There is some bubbling on the nearside rear arch lip

According to the previous owner it has a higher number of owners due it being sold by a few car dealers”

More like Prince of Darkness.

In the interests of thread transparency I can report my L322 has 'failed to proceed' a couple of times this week. Symptoms are I unlock the car then when I put the key in the ignition all electrics totally die. Not like a flat battery more like a disconnected battery. A quick nudging of the battery cables seems to fix it but I am 300 miles from my tools and semi worried it will pull this stunt when the car is not unlocked.......

It's an E3 that's been converted.

Oh bugger, hopefully an easy fix, but they never are if the tools aren't present! Is the battery in the boot or engine bay?

My uncle had an E3 in the 'seventies. It was a lovely thing in powder blue with blue velour.

Good news; new job.

Bad news; can’t drive my QP 20k pa.

I need a new car.

Auto, comfy, cheap, reliable, not look rubbish.

A saloon will overlap with the QP too much, so I'll say V70.
