Council.
I am interested in hearing your explanation of that word in relation to the subject matter?Maybe you are authorised to speak for him, but I wonder if he agrees with what you said word for word.
So going by your explanation...does "council" make it bad, because I'm still not sure?

not this chav nonsense again.
I'm always amused when I see someone use the word 'Council' in a pejorative manner. Regardless of the fact it ironically shows no class from the poster themselves, it also leads me to believe said poster has inferiority/inadequacy issues, that they would try grasp on to such a term so as to make them feel somehow superior.
Growing up on a council estate hasn't seemed to have done Jim Ratcliffe much harm, only having a paltry few Billion to rub together. So maybe I'm actually mistaken, and those posters gleefully typing out 'council' whenever they get the opportunity, are in fact using it as a compliment?

Very well said that man. Growing up on a council estate hasn't seemed to have done Jim Ratcliffe much harm, only having a paltry few Billion to rub together. That is a hideously ugly and stupidly overpowered monster, the epitome of bad taste. I presume the blacked out windows are to spare the embarrassment of its occupants.
I was looking at an upcoming Sotheby's sale of GT cars earlier, and the elegance and restraint of those designs from 50+ years ago provides a striking contrast to something like that lump - https://www.sothebys.com/en/articles/grand-touring...

LOL exactly. Who the f**k buys this stuff? There must be a robust market for it as Abt have been going for a while now. Beats me.
People like me, I suppose, who have two children, don’t want to compromise on performance, and who think it looks quite nice.Which means it’s the same sort of people who buy an SL63, an Abarth 595, or a GR Yaris.

Yes I agree with him word for word. Certainly it won't be a bad car but to me it has no class and would seem to be a lottery winning chav's wet dream. I'm not saying that you have to be a chav to want or buy one, but there is a correlation nonetheless, in my opinion. Abt means nothing to me so having a car plastered in his signature and a slice of his German anvil glued to the interior doesn't excite me either.
You list a Vauxhall in your garage, one with a huge body kit. Your car and this are exactly the same thing, a tuned-up engine shoved into a family car that is then covered in glue and driven through Halfords.Northernboy said:

Not sure the Halfords insult is appropriate these days. Unless, of course, you meant it was liable to emerge with a roofbox, some bicycles and a few microfibre cloths attached.
It’s not really an insult, as I really like the car in the article, but you can’t own a Lotus Carlton and level insults at the modern equivalent.Pro Bono said:

Privacy glass went out of fashion about twenty years ago so you maybe right. Or maybe it’s to hide the plumes of weed smoke from the Babylon ?I was looking at an upcoming Sotheby's sale of GT cars earlier, and the elegance and restraint of those designs from 50+ years ago provides a striking contrast to something like that lump - https://www.sothebys.com/en/articles/grand-touring...
Some lovely cars in that auction.

Nonsense. The Lotus Carlton was an icon and still commands respect, like the Sierra Cosworth which came before it. That Audi is just tasteless tat.
That's quite an irrational view though. Both had the same purpose and achieved it in a similar way.And how can a car "command respect"? Are you twelve?

There were many who saw the Escort and Sierra Cosworths as a 'council' or 'chav' (or Max Power) car when they were new. The Lotus Carlton might have been an icon to petrolheads, but to many 'normal' folk, it was just an overpriced Vauxhall. Much as you might think your car commands respect, it doesn't. Anyone with sufficient funds could buy one tomorrow.
Like they say, opinions are like aholes...
