Earlier in the year an FD2 Civic Type R was possibly coming up for sale. Unfortunately the owner changed his mind about selling. That set the ball rolling on getting something new. After considering a Megane RS 250 Cup, Focus ST, Golf GTI, they were all missing something. J4CKO's Fiesta ST had me considering going that route. I'd forgotten about the GT86 until one popped up for sale. A few came up but not worth buying, eventually finding one advertised as being immaculate. A little chat with the owner and went for a look, great service history, out for a drive, sold!
I love how much fun it is driving at sensible speeds on a good B road, the distance home from work has managed to jump to almost double in the last few days. I don't have any immediate plans but a wheel change and TRD front lip and side skirts are being considered. Now it just needs a good clean, I'd forgotten how bad a combination of dead bugs and white paint looked.

I love the red interior - are those seats an option?
They must have been, I haven't seen another set like them though.Canon_Fodder said:
Your car your choice of course but to me they look so good as they are I wouldn't try to 'gild the lily' with body kit bits and bobs
I'm undecided on the TRD stuff, looks good but might be different looking at it every day. The wheels would still be OEM, from the performance model or BRZ STI, nothing too drastic. An extra set for winter tyres would be my excuse.Canon_Fodder said:

To be fair those standard wheels are widely renown as being pretty damn awful! There's one near me that has these, which look much nicer (and I'm not usually a fan of black wheels)Mr Tidy said:
I had a test drive in one back in 2014 and loved it - apart from the engine that seemed a bit hopeless in the mid-range.
But I'm sure they are great if you keep the revs up!
I can't say I've noticed the lack of torque all that much, it's not the most powerful thing, but the handling and playfulness of the rear without going overboard. I leave for work around 4-5 am and there's a few places with low speed bends that makes me smile. With normal traffic on the road I am a lot more cautious, too many stupid drivers on the road these days, around here it's all ST's and VXR's.But I'm sure they are great if you keep the revs up!
When I worked at a BMW dealership, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few M cars for a short time. My first ever drive in an M car was an E60, it was an experience each time I drove it. Never had a Z4M in my time there but it can't be any less fun than what I had a go in. I did love the 3.0i though, lovely thing to sit in but TBH cars with that much power are not for me though, definitely exciting but I'd never get to use all that power, and it's so easy to go into licence losing speeds very quickly. The older I get the more I value my licence

Looks great. I always wanted one but can't fit a bike in or on (no I wouldn't use that sucker bike mount thing!)
Back seats down and both wheels off for a road or mountain bike and they do fit. I've got my dirt jump bike in my BRZ with just the front wheel off also. Nice looking GT86 OP, white is definitely the best colour for the Toyota. I couldn't find one worth buying when I was looking in March and then a BRaz came up locally that was the right money and in good nick so I went with that.
Just to add I pulled up at the lights recently next to a 40 something slender lady driving one with really good aftermarket wheels (I didn't get the make as I was too busy smiling) and it was tastefully lowered.
It looked cool as fk. If I didn't have wife +11yr old + bike hobby I would have one as my only car. I've had this engine in 4 Subaru's and I love Jap scene.
Dammit.

They are great cars. I have a 2017 version. I spend a lot of time now searching for nice B-roads to go for a blast. The lack of power doesn't bother me, I just like rowing through the lovely gearbox and heel-toeing into hairpins and having a little tail wiggle on the exits.
