RE: Cayman GT4 PDK vs. A110 Legende GT vs. Huracan RWD
Discussion
You really have to see the Alpine in person. It does look different and I think will be more enduring in the long term. But looks are subjective where the ride and handling over bumpy roads are not. Driving the S model reveals a more compliant ride than most cars period, yet with the handling to match. Acceleration is only adequate in the S model and luggage space is woeful. But that’s what happens when you have double wishbone all round and not struts (like a cayman)
The weight of the car is to be celebrated and I’m a Porsche fanboy

And also looks slab sided in other pics and generally not attractive. I concede it looks better (if still not aesthetically pleasing) in person.
Have to agree. Cayman for me. Not that the Lamborghini isn't very desirable... just that it's none too practical as an ownership proposition. Wouldn't mind a drive of one though! And also looks slab sided in other pics and generally not attractive. I concede it looks better (if still not aesthetically pleasing) in person.
I sense the Alpine would be the best of the bunch on these roads.
The other two are way too powerful for the road and the Porsche with its long gearing would be frustrating too.
Then you have the perfectly set up, supple and playful nature of the Alpine chassis... the only misgiving is the lack of a manual.
Oh and aesthetically, the Alpine does look a lot better in the metal, than in photos.

Clearly no one in their right mind would buy this basic Lambo over a limited run more focussed Performante.
So as the 110 is an instant rejection for various reasons not least its ridiculously awkward looks, its another clear win for the GT4.
But in manual form as there is far greater interaction and the gear ratios are very similar too.

Out of these 3 just the noise and theatre of that lambo v10 would bring me more joy then anything the other 2 have.
EVO RWD spyder would be my choice.
To me the Alpine looks awful and although it’s the lightest, once packed with 2 people and luggage the extra weight will affect the drive much more then the others.
If I had to go true lightweight then I can’t think of anything better then the Elise cup 250

Tend to agree, in pictures they look like a bloated Kei car. It just looks arrogantly styled. Which for a French company is par for the course, but they forgot to add fun here. And also looks slab sided in other pics and generally not attractive. Much better in the flesh though. A lot better. This has to be the one car where pictures do it no justice.
Still wouldn't have one, at 60k they are reaching. This is a really weird and limited market. Once you are in the 60k + sportscar bracket you have to be really committed to NOT buy the correct answer which is always 911. Unless you are rich enough that a French curiosity is an itch you can scratch.
The Cayman too, massive commitment needed at a whisker under 100k. All 3 of these are probably toys, not daily's.

The Alpine is (like many moderns) very colour-sensitive.The other two are way too powerful for the road and the Porsche with its long gearing would be frustrating too.

I saw two alongside one another.
It was unappealling in Surrender White, but I thought quite fetching in French Retreating Blue.
Not as pretty as the original, but whenever is that the case?

Surprised at the Lambo's 'weight' but only the Alpine is anywhere near what you would call lightweight. Shame it's the worst looking.
I don't think circa 1500kgs for a 4WD car with a big V10 engine and 4WD with enough tech and creature comforts to make it a viable daily driver is too heavy.....Are there many other 4WD cars with similar-sized engines and performance which are much lighter? 911 Turbo S unladen weight is 1640kgs. Can you give any examples which justify your comments to suggest the Lambo is especially heavy, given the type of car it is?Think if you've got the folding for the Lambo it's a bit of a no brainer. If you've got the 100k for the GT4 PDK and are on the Xmas card list with your local OPC, that's you sorted.
If your budget is fiscally challenged and you want a DCT equipped lightweight, Alpine is the answer.
It's an interesting group test and it's great to read that although it's not a giant killer, the A110 didn't embarrass itself in this exalted company.
Put like that, it's pretty high praise.

Have driven both and the Lambo is just more fun everywhere!!!The other two are way too powerful for the road and the Porsche with its long gearing would be frustrating too.

Also way more of an event, has an aura, soul and sound that can't be matched at anytime or at any speed by any Alpine.... Plus more importantly for fun, the option for even more daftness if the mood suits you... No comparison....
These are not Lambos of old, they are brilliantly balanced, wild road racers...
Should try one....
