Did you expect any different though?
It is a nearly two ton family car, while it's not bad to drive, it's never going to be all that good. It really is all about the engine, I wouldn't have one to replace a sports car, but i would have one in addition to.
To be honest I did expect it to be different. It weighs more or less the same as an R35 GTR and was benchmarked against the M3 which is objectively designed to be a practical sports car.It is a nearly two ton family car, while it's not bad to drive, it's never going to be all that good. The suspension is too hard to be considered comfortable but you don't get the handling to match that offset in ride quality in my opinion.
Perhaps I just don't get the car, I find it really strange. As I said before if the Mrs wasn't fond of it then it would have been shipped on long ago.
It's not a dog either, its a <40k miles and FMBSH car with all the right bits done on it.
As you have said, the one redeeming feature is the engine, the noise is incredible.
I'd love to try one but, as others have said, not this one. Plus, if I was buying, I'd have to go estate for more sleeper vibes and room for the dogs.
There's a 1.8 petrol C-class estate that regularly passes the office. He's put a sticker plate on the front of his and it looks good. Why don't the chavs do that at least?

Have any owners on here had trouble with the cam adjusters, etc?
I was waiting for somebody to post this.Edited by cobraBLACK on Saturday 19th June 12:54
The thing to remember is that these issues are generally linked to mileage (adjusters, tappets, camshafts) and age (head bolts for early cars). As these cars get older, the issues will pop up more frequently. I’d have loved to have bought one but I’d be thinking about a big bill being around the corner.
ETA: No question the engine is a masterpiece. I have in the past considered going in with eyes open to the fact that a big bill might be a risk and just accepting it.

Or will people shoot the messenger yet again and completely turn a blind eye to the message?
Oh, and £11k for that one repair? Wow. Ae you kidding me?

We get it, you don't like them. That video was posted on the first or second page of this thread.Or will people shoot the messenger yet again and completely turn a blind eye to the message?

But the general consensus is that the C63 is a reliable car given its performance. , and certainly when compared to its rivals of the time.
Another facelift estate owner here, this time a very niche spec. Colour is Dolomite Brown with Porcelain leather, which would have been a costly Designo option for the first owner (brave choice, I'd say!). Under no certain terms could I stomach the usual colour choices or cosmetic additions that seems to plague the model, so I was very pleased when this one came up for sale late last year with a tad under 40k miles. I'd have loved the 18" wheels for the best ride comfort and sensible profile tyres, but I must concede the 19"s work best aesthetically to my eyes.
Other than annual service, it's only had the mismatched rubber replaced recently with Michelin PS4Ss. The car is mechanically standard and I don't think I need to play with it, as it's just a nice daily to have whilst I can still enjoy a 6.2 ICE with my modest annual mileage.
I'd get shot to pieces I'm sure, but I would very much consider replacing the silver interior trim with the dark walnut option, to further enhance the 'old man' spec, otherwise I'm looking forward to many more miles in it. A complete sledgehammer to complement the svelte Lotus in the garage.

All the lovely photos on the thread are making me want one of these even more!
I need this engine in my life big time for sure.
Get one bought Lee, you won’t regret it I need this engine in my life big time for sure.
I think if I had one I'd be more than happy just lifting the bonnet and just staring at the engine...never mind actually driving and listening to it!

I think replacing the silver trims with wood is a sensational idea, the silver looks a bit out of place imo Other than annual service, it's only had the mismatched rubber replaced recently with Michelin PS4Ss. However, silver trim aside your car is utterly gorgeous.

Only now your doing it on a public forum about a car you’ve never owned
