RE: Festival of Speed green lit as a pilot event
Discussion
We seem to have drifted away from the FoS subject - into a tin foil hat discussion.
I'm delighted the Festival is still on and I imagine it was a huge amount of work to get it over the line. This on the back of a disastrous last year for Goodwood - from people being laid off to events being cancelled.
Goodwood simply have to abide by the rules to host the event. Get jabbed or get tested. End of story. No point bleating about it or the efficacy of it.

Whilst I am very happy that events like this and the GP are going ahead as normal (so far as we know at the moment, there could be a load of "rules" published last minute...), I think it must be pretty galling for others that aren't interested in this particular event, and still face restrictions on things they want to do.
Meanwhile, so long as you have a vaccine that apparently doesn't stop transmission, or a test of dubious use at best, then you are fine to mix with thousands of people at this one.
I'm going to Goodwood, and I'm not scared of the virus, but it's odd. One rule for one, etc.

What do you expect Goodwood to do? It's pointless banging on about it. They have to abide by the rules - so either attend or don't. Not tricky.
Absolutely. Goodwood could either agree the 'Test Event' status or cancel again.I am looking forward to it and all the more happy for those protesting the requirements to stay at home.
Haven't heard from Goodwood yet but imagine if you won't abide by the rules then they will offer a refund. Why the protest though? People have their own reasons (I assume) for not getting vaccinated but taking a test is hardly the most arduous task.

Because the principle of innocent until proven guilty is reversed in a world where you are assumed to be a pox-carrying leper until you prove otherwise.I am looking forward to it and all the more happy for those protesting the requirements to stay at home.

Where does that principle stop?
Covid?
Flu?
Herpes?
HIV?
The common cold?
Your eleventy-second booster jab that Hancock makes you have if you want your 'vaccine passport' to remain green so that you can go to work and pay your bills?
Would you accept being accused of a crime with no evidence for that claim put forward, and taking the punishment for it unless you proved otherwise?
Why is freedom now subject to conditions instead of being the standard operating procedure, where it is only rescinded when one has been proven to do something bad? (Which applies to the whole Covid response in general TBH.)
The speed and ease of 'proving one's innocence' has no bearing on the discussion around the principles.

What are your views on the matters raised?
I don't want the children of the UK to grow up in a world where they have to 'prove' they are 'safe' to be able to leave the house or do anything that makes life worth living, and if we don't say No at the start, it is a lot harder to say No when the wedge has been banged in further.

.
The vaccine doesn’t stop transmission, but does appear to significantly reduce it..

As i am only 28 i fall into the Lateral flow test category (Had my first jab , but the second one isn't for 8 weeks at least)
So i will need to take a test in the days before FOS.
I hope a refund will be offered or my tickets remain valid for next year if i test positive!
I imagine they are the sorts of things that they will be ironing out at the moment. There will be others self-isolating, shielding etc who are unable to go.So i will need to take a test in the days before FOS.

48hrs prior is probably too close to put tickets back on to the market, so it'll be interesting to see if there is an appreciable difference in how busy it is this year.
Worst thing about this is that because it was cancelled last year and they are honouring the tickets, it was already sold out. I am really looking forward to seeing the new Lotus Emira, even though I think it might not be my cup of tea, and would have loved to have gone. Will watch the livestream, though.

When the tickets for this year went on sale, my dad and I decided to go on the Friday rather than the weekend as it should be less busy. There were still tickets available a couple of weeks ago so I'm guessing some who had tickets for last year have had them refunded and decided not to go this year.

Tickets were still available for Thursday as of a couple of days ago. ch37 said:

Some casual ad hom combined with some denigration of an evidence-led approach - an impressive response
Please post the links to where I have stated I am 'anti-vax' and have said 'Covid is a myth'. Thanks.
