I used to be highly critical of all the air vents and huge grilles on the front of cars but someone on the forum pointed out that the heat generated by these modern engines is huge and the vents needed.
Once I took that on board it really changed the way I view the styling - so if all these vents are needed to make the car work all over the world, then I think they have done a reasonable job.
And yes the performance is incredible - we finally get these amazing more more importantly relatively affordable machines just as the opportunity to exploit them will quickly diminish, with limiters and seemingly ever lower speed limits. C'est la vie.
You’ll be please to know, that only about 40% of the vents are open, a small bit behind the Audi badge, two small hits under the number plate then the lower edges are also open. The rest is just solid plasticOnce I took that on board it really changed the way I view the styling - so if all these vents are needed to make the car work all over the world, then I think they have done a reasonable job.

I'm not keen on that grille but do like the green, it's such a shame so few people will spec it.
With regards to our being like a Golf, yes but it has that engine and the four door looks so much better. In the last generation I reckon it was the pick of the non sports Audi range. Usefully compact.

It really is that simple for me.
Visually Audi have got a lot right for a long time, the previous RS3 design was crisp, clean, almost understated. This is looking rather brash imo, too many details and lacking the restraint seen on earlier cars. That said, I've never warmed to them and they weren't even on my shortlist for a hot hatch purchase.

Let’s hope with the new tech and upgrades it drives as good as it looks.
Unless they've moved the engine back to a position mostly behind the front axle, improved weight distribution and made it RWD rather than pseudo AWD, I think it will have the same fundamentals flaws, irrespective of tech. That doesn't take anything away from its inherent merits, particularly in the wet, which are also the result of those choices. fantheman80 said:

Not a concept, an artists guessed render but agree it does look betterMaybe Audi should hire him / her, as they can clearly design a better looking car
Well done Audi, but its a little late, this is a fossil fuel guzzler, why owhy, this should be an electric car, no good filling up our scrap yards in 5-10 years with these ICE models when you could have roads and Autobahns filled with these beauties run by electric, and Audi could be servicing and repairing these Electric cars. Instead you will be having Shelves full of spares for ICE cars, where are the economics in that Audi?
