E5 99RON petrol prices
Discussion
I went to our local Tesco (Chesterfield) to fill the Riley with Momentum E5 99RON this evening - except there was none. Every Momentum pump was 'Not In Use'.
The kiosk staff said they had no idea when they'd have a delivery and when asked where else might have some (imagining they might know about supplies at nearby Tesco filling stations) the suggestion was, "Sainsbury's..."
Is this a widespread shortage or was I just unlucky? We're starting a ten-day driving tour of Wales tomorrow, some fuel would make it easier...

I've seen all grades of both petrol and diesel missing in action at my local Shell. The kiosk staff said they had no idea when they'd have a delivery and when asked where else might have some (imagining they might know about supplies at nearby Tesco filling stations) the suggestion was, "Sainsbury's..."

It's a lack of delivery drivers, I think.

Just fill at Esso for ethanol free goodness
Is there any actual fact to this or is it an urban myth? Everything I've read indicates that Esso regular unleaded contains Ethanol and the super unleaded is only Ethanol free if it isn't supplied from sites in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North of England and Scotland.Matt_E_Mulsion said:

Ended getting Tesco 99 after both were out.
Later that day I found a Shell in North Wales that had V, so filled up again.
3 days later I went back to the initial Shell and it was still out so had to settle for BP Ultimate.

Can we focus on current supply problems please?
I'm at the bottom end of the county (South Derbyshire) and I can't say I've noticed any shortages here. And I've just come back from a few days up in the Lake District and didn't have any problems or notice any shortages up there either.GregK2 said:

I pulled into a nearby Esso last weekend to get some super (not due to ethanol but because S2000 makes the most of 98-RON) and they were completely out of super.I went to another Esso nearby and they had it, I started filling and it was £1.50 per litre. Oof. A local petrol station, not even a motorway services.
Probably a double whammy of driver shortage and probably the entire motorcycling and older vehicle community using super unleaded to avoid the E10 (trying not to get into the facts or fiction of effect of E10)
Wonder if the increase in sales of super will lead to rise in prices above non super unleaded, or (I doubt it) a drop due to economy of scale
