Is everything out of stock?

Mercedes have told me they don't have any (well, exact words were discontinued but that seems bizarre on a fairly modern car!)
That's doubly odd - Don't Mercedes have a tradition / policy of always offering every spare for every model? (Even if it will cost a bomb they'll offer to do it.)Leptons said:
I’m going back two years here but my customer was without her ~2014 Registered S Class for ten months because Mercedes couldn’t get her a DPF anywhere in the world and ended up buying the car off her for a very good price!
Not sure I'll convince them to buy mine but I like your thinking!By searching the web for various part numbers I've found two made by Huco (part of Hitachi I believe?). Seem reasonably priced although both match the OE part number A6461532579 - not heard of the brand but to be honest can't be overly fussy right now. Anyone had experience of them (or indeed Trodo)?

Thought your Merc dealer may have been fobbing you off RE not available from Merc but I've checked internally and you're right no longer being produced by Mercedes. https://www.trodo.com/catalogsearch/result?q=64615...
Cross referenced your oe number and Beru and Champion both appear to make the part you're after
Beru - GSE110
Champion - CCU110
Can't comment on Huco or Trodo, not dealt with them in the 12 years I've been in parts (mix of ECP and main dealer)

Neither my local MB dealer nor my trusted local MB indie garage seem able to obtain new NOx sensors for my E class. They have been on back order for some time.
Are these brand and model specific, and not available from Bosch or similar? The test driver said:

A good diesel shouldn’t need glow plugs to start.
- Laughs in modern emissions regulations
Having had a quote to fix them and being assured that it would start regardless, I left it
3 yrs on it's still starting, even in winter, yes it takes a few turns when it's cold and yes occasionally the glow plug light comes on but no ill effects as yet

Just to finish off the thread - this part was fitted and worked great. Even if i got stung for some import tax. https://www.trodo.com/catalogsearch/result?q=64615...
I've suffered exactly the same issue on my 2007 E220CDI 170hp W211 engine 646.821.
Occasionally the engine would turn over quite a few times on the starter before firing, cold weather: ok when warmed up.
I had a "glow plug controller fault" (Error Code P0670). My independent MB garage checked out the ceramic glow plug & wiring which were all OK, and confirmed by the Star Diagnostics that the controller was at fault.
The original controller is a unit made by Beru, with Mercedes part number A646 153 25 79.
The garage confirmed that Beru have stopped production of this and MB have no "equivalent" recommended. This I find quite incredible.
Anyhow, the correct Beru unit is the Beru GSE110 (not the 140). But alas this can't be bought for love nor money, nobody actually has it in stock.
The nearest equivalent, with correct interfacing connections is the HÜCO 2502195 which I've ordered from Trodo at https://www.trodo.com/relay-glow-plug-system-huco-... Other "compatibles" appear to use different connectors.
Please note that you’ll pay about £55 extra for duty and VAT to DHL.
|I receive this tomorrow and hope to get it fitted next week and will update you all with the results. For sure I’ll keep the old part, just in case!

Yesterday, 26-Jan-2022 I had the “HÜCO 2502195” glow plug controller fitted by MB-Automotive in Loughborough, fitting cost including fault reset was £40 – very reasonable.
The controller is difficult to access as its well hidden away requiring access from underneath the vehicle removing the under-engine tray.
All works as hoped for.
I need to just check there's no struggling to start in cold temperatures - it always did at less than 5degC.
