The Joy of Running an Old Shed (Vol 2)
Discussion
The joy of running an old shed for me this year is that there is absolutely nothing to report whatsoever. Since the turn of the year total costs, insurance, petrol and road tax aside have been 40 quid for it's MOT, that's it, the 20 year old pug just plods along asking for nothing (and getting nothing) aside from a quick home service but I bought the filters and oil last year.
Just goes to prove my sneering work colleagues wrong (I bet you spend more time pushing it than driving it), you see they all have shiny new German metal, none of which they own and I continue to perplex them with my strange "lifestyle choice " by running a beater while earning a good wage.
So 4 years in, purchase price £475 and she's just about to tick over 64,000 miles. Funny thing is even on a decent wage my colleagues have been muttering about the cost of living recently and although they would never admit it to my face those expensive car deals are beginning to grate a little.

You'd probably class my 2006 Saab 9-3 as a shed despite me overpaying for it.
The electric mirrors don't work, if you lock it the alarm goes off, it runs on 5 cylinders when it's cold and it currently has the headlight washer pipe hanging down underneath because it Just. Won't. Stay. Up. It also creaked A LOT when I towed a small trailer with it last week, which was disconcerting.
However we are taking it on holiday up to Northumberland over the newish L200 on Monday as it is just so much more comfortable, and despite being the 2.8 v6 turbo it does a respectible 35 mpg on the motorway.
I actually get told quite often that it'll be a classic one day and I should keep hold of it. Though with 156k miles, every panel having a ding in it and a couple of bits having been painted by someone who needed to quit and go home suggests it probably wouldn't be wise with my car!

My £900 L322 has absolutely insane high beams. Ordered a digital TV tuner so I can watch Dave and Channel 4 while I'm waiting for my girlfriend to get her shoes on. Off to pick up a set of factory 20's so I can keep the 18's for winter, providing it's reliable enough that I keep it that long
Aaron, with your history ill be surprised if its not been swapped for a nissan micra, honda motorcycle,24 cans of cider and a pair of trainers by next weekend.. Bad day for shed, failed mot for broken spring, explains back scrapping on speed humps, should have checked really, and handbrake efficiency, which I think is an add on as it works fine, but heh ho.
Weird advisory was product on front lens, but doesn't impact lights.
Corrosion on underbody, which there is, but 207 are galvanized so it is just surface rust.
But shouldn't cost more than 250 with 2 new tyres and fails fixed, for another 12 months, hopefully.
